Owned GE Refrigerator 6 years and in that time: the frig’s door handle broke off and replaced TWOTIMES. The frig’s gasket tore apart and was replaced TWO TIMES. In the 6th year, the compressor malfunctioned. I replaced the refrigerator because of too many problems with that model.
It talks a lot (not really talking obviously.... just making grumbling noises, sometimes louder than others). When I got it the light bulb was missing and I can’t seem to figure out what size bulb it takes. The specs don’t say. I tried a standard GE applicants bulb and it lights up with contact but it won’t screw in.
My relatively new GE refrigerator is developing either a bad fan or a problem with the compressor. I Purchased it because of the great service I had from the that last GE Refrigerator I had that lasted over 30 years. They do not build them like they used to. Very sad. I tried to buy American but when you get quality like this it forces you to

Door handle just broke again, this is the second time in two years, exactly at the same spot! and the part has been discontinued! Awful!

Works great! But the handle has broken 3 times, now I just leave it off. All the shelves in the door have cracked and broken, I'm holding them together with tape.

In the first year of ownership I’ve had to replace the door handles twice; the vegetable drawer cracked; it is incredibly- and unbearably- noisy. The door seal peels away. I was told to apply Vaseline to help with the contact. The dealer said not to expect it to last like my old one- almost 30 years! I am thinking to replace it, which adds unbelievable waste to our planet. Maybe I got a lemon n, but beware.
The lower handle broke within months after regular usage and now it has broken again in the same place near the screws. I do not think I should have to keep buying these and I do not want to pay a technician to replace it so that I can get a five year warranty
