I Recieved This G.E. 18.1 CU Top Freezer/Refridgerator White Today And Thus Far We Are Very Happy And Satisfied.Installation Was Simple.Glass Shelves Are Easy To Remove And Clean.Alot Of Room In The Frost Free Freezer Along With Additional Wire Shelving Inside For Space Saving And More Storage Room.The Freezer Compartment Is Large And Does The Job. The Refridgerator Is Roomy With Temperature Controls In The Front For Easy Access.Their Is A Snack Drawer And Two Crisper Drawers With Are Supurb And Modrated.Pleanty Of Shelves In The Door Which Is Reversible.The Outside Is Clean Textred And Gives A Great Appreaance And Presentation In The Kitchen.Optional Ice Maker Add On.This Is The Refrideratpr We Wanted And Waited For.Thanks G.E. You Bring Good Things To Light.

I have not had this refrigerator long, but it seems to be a great American made appliance. Have not noticed any strange noises as indicated in other reviews. Shelves are easy to reconfigure and large storage bins in the door are great.

A noisy energy sucker

This fridge has been a noisy disappointment. We bought the first fridge a year ago and it performed alright (i.e. kept food cold and froze ice) but made so much noise! It was not the standard loud compressor noise which GE fridges are known, but something different which sounded like motorcycle races going on inside the freezer! GE replaced that fridge under warranty. The replacement makes less noise though still more than we would like. After about six months the freezer handle broke. I've also checked the power consumption with a kill-a watt and it is way higher than advertised.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
