Whirlpool Gold series with powerscour option

I just love my new dishwasher! We had a whirlpool before which I loved because of the adjustable top shelf. So, when that one died I looked at a lot of dishwashers but came back to Whirlpool because of the shelf and what I got for the $$! Love it and is so quiet!!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good selection of features available

I researched new dishwashers before buying a new one, and chose the Whirlpool Gold Series dishwasher with Scour Power. It has many features such as 1-hour wash, delayed wash (4 hours), overnight wash, heat or economy dry. I do like the adjustable top rack. Very nice feature. I do miss the rinse only cycle my old dishwasher had, along with being able to set the delayed wash for 2, 4, or 6 hours. I do not like the silverware basket. It is slimmer and is made to either attach to the door or attach to the front of the bottom rack to allow for more room on the bottom rack for dishes, etc. I place it inside the rack, as sometimes it falls off the hooks on the outside of the bottom rack. Also, when the basket is attached to the door, the silverware tend not to dry thoroughly. Which leads to another concern: After most washes, even on heated drying and adjusting my rinse dispenser, there is water on the inside of the door by the silverware basket and on my dishes. Finally, the racks are very lightweight and do not feel as sturdy as were the ones in my previous dishwasher.

Great looking and stainless inside

We updated our kitchen appliances recently and decided to go with the Whirlpool "Black Ice" series. We purchased the refrigerator, dishwasher, gas range, and over the range microwave. They look very nice in our kitchen and we are very happy with the appearance of all of the appliances. Specifically about the dishwasher, we like the black ice so much more than stainless steel on the exterior. We don't use a dishwasher all that often, but when we have it has worked well. Quite happy with our purchase.

This dishwasher has been randomly turning on and steaming dirty dishes. The controls are on the top of the door, under the counter. It is not always clear if the unit is on or off. I have some knives with plastic handles that I have had for years and no dishwasher has harmed them but his one managed to melt the handles of those and some of my spatulas. I don't use hot heat dry so not sure why. I didn't like the silverware bin in the door because if you want to put plates in, then you have to roll that drawer in to add silverware, but the silverware drawer goes in the bottom shelf as well. It is fairly quiet but we previously had a 20 year old unit of another brand in our previous home. My review is to pay for the upgraded brand name and not this one because this one wasn't terribly cheap as it was.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My old washer was a whirpool also and I loved the features so I got another one with similar features. It's spacious, movable racks and prongs, and the utensils holder located on the door leaving you with much room for more dishes and big items. I love it. no complaint and it looks nice and sleek. Also, so quiet that I don't know if it is washing or not.

Often the rack comes off the track and the rubberized tines that hold up the dishes are too short; consequently, the plates fall over. It doesn't matter what size dinner plate I use. If the rack is not pushed in carefully, the plates fall down which is irritating.The dishwasher is very quiet- you hardly know it is on. I do not like the feature which requires you to push start if you open the dw while it is washing. Other dw's I've had just start up again when the door is closed. Also, a repair person told me to use the Finsh detergent, the DW recommendation is to use Cascade, but I see film developing inside the btm of the DW.
