Basic corded shaver
on March 8, 2017

Philips made this products as unattractive as possible in order to push customers to buy the cordless shavers:
- blades are most basic but are expensive to replace;
- cord is cheap and tangling;
- there is no trimmer on board;
- there is no selection of corded shavers, this is the only model.
Cordless shavers are more expensive and they need to be replaced more often as the battery does not last as long as other parts of the shaver and it cannot be changed. All said, considering cost, longevity, and lower impact on the environment this is still a preferred model for me.
Pros: reasonable price, no battery to go bad, environmentally friendly, does not need to be charged
Cons: basic blades, blades are expensive to replace, no trimmer on board, the "non-coiling" cord is tangling

Great low cost triple rotary-head shaver. Sacrificed having beard/side-burn trimmer for lower price, compared with other products available at retail.
Pros: low price, provides 'floating heads' for good shave
Cons: lacks trimmer, power cord does not lock-on shaver falls off easi

Excellent Shaver for the Price Range
on June 25, 2014

This shaver itself is very well designed and ergonomic, and the shave is very comfortable and close (I have a medium or average beard) cutting shorter stubble and longer hairs with ease and is very quiet. Cleaning the product is very simple as well by washing with warm water under the tap. I found that the battery charged quicker than advertised (first charge, and battery was empty) and holds that charge for quite a while, and can be used while plugged into the mains. Overall it is an excellent shaver.
Pros: quiet operation, shaves close without irritation, well designed ergonomic, battery last a long time, easy to clean, can be used while charging
Cons: would be nice to have a stand/charging station, no travel case included

4 out of 5 stars - MORE POWER ...

I will give you this - Norelco is much better in all ways than the competition of Rem*&^%$, etc., BUT I miss just a 'plain Jane' simple corded model, which I have always had and prefer. One can not find a razor now with a sideburn trimmer that has a cord without the gel injection, rechargeable, and other features I do not need.
My father always used a simple 2 or 3 head Norelco which plugs in and I prefer this too. This model is about 85% the power, even fully charged, of the old corded type. I like the grip too of my old one a little better too for some reason - more comfortable. Unfortunately, everything seems to change, including products, and change is NOT always better or good. I would even pay more for the 'old' type I used to have verses this lower power rechargeable.
Pros: does the job.
Cons: not as much power as older ac corded type, grip is not as comfortable as older norelco models

Haven't ever used an electric razor because of my heavy beard but was pleasantly surprised how great it works.

I recently had rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder(my dominate side) and my wife thought it would be a great idea to try your electric razor. I have a very heavy beard and I was truly surprised how much I like your razor. Even using my left hand it shaves close and clean and leaves no burn. Getting pretty used to it and I plan to keep using the razor after I recover from my surgery.
Pros: its fast and easy.
Cons: really cannot think of a con on your razor.

.Disappointing quality of shave in latest model

My Norelco was getting old so I decided to get a new one as my birthday present to myself. I had the usual problem of trying to choose from among the several confusing, hard-to-compare models, and ended up choosing on price - the cheapest one, since i don't shave in the shower and have no special needs.
First mistake: I didn't realize it does not come with the trimmer that was a feature of the cheapest model the last time I bought it.
In the past month or so, the quality of the shaves just haven't been up to expectations, or up th past standards. I shave and shave and still have stubble. It now takes me twice as long, and a lot of attention, to get an acceptable shave.
The only thing that keeps me from going out and getting some other well-regarded brand is the fact that the unique Norelco design is quiet and low-vibration, whereas the back-and-forth shavers are noisy as heck.
But I am chagrined that my Norelco no longer gives me the quality shaves I had grown accustomed to from the earlier model. I can't guess why: Perhaps cost-cutting has hit Norelco. Perhaps a more expensive model shaves better. How would I know?
Pros: quiet vibration-free
Cons: no longer gives a close shave as past models., shaving is now a lengthy process., no way to guess if another model would be better., comparing features of models is hard.

Fell apart in my hands after 3 months
on March 11, 2017

I was extremely disappointed with this shaver. I had another Philips shaver for many years and it was good and it finally kicked the bucket. I bought this just a few months ago and tonight after I finished my shave, as I said before it fell apart in my hands. The top came off and the blades went down my sink. I don't know what I did to make it fall apart like this. It's not like I dropped it or hit it against something.
