Just what I wanted, why wasn't this invented earlier. This is a great machine and has endless possibilities.

Odor is awful, even after several uses

After using it for about 7-8 times, the smell continue to be almos unbearable. It does the work, especially when you need to achieve textures that take a lot of work, like aligot for example. However, the smell even gives us headaches. Spreads around the entire house like if it was plastic burning. It's awful.

Design Flaw! ONLY BOTTOM OF BOWL IS WARM!

There are 2 major problems with the KitchenAid chocolate tempering machine.
1) The tempered chocolate only stays warm at the bottom of the bowl, so if you want to dip shortbread cookies or anything else in the chocolate, the chocolate becomes too thick and cool at the top for the cookies to pass through. I wish the sides of the bowl also stayed warm. There is a very small heating element at the bottom of the unit. The top 2/3 of the KitchenAid bowl is cool to to the touch and, thus, the top 2/3 of the chocolate mixture remains cool too at a the recommended 88 degree temper holding setting.
2) The KitchenAid recipe for tempering chocolate calls for starting with 22 ounces of chocolate in the heating bowl. My chocolate never fully melted, even after 1 hour and continuous stirring there were lots of lumps. I had to take the semi-melted chocolate out of the KitchenAid machine and warm the chocolate to the desired temperature on the stove.
I really do not see the use for this machine. It is an expensive waste of time and and effort!
For the price, it should stay warm on all sides of the work bowl!
I would not recommend this product to anyone. After using it I was both tired and wanted to throw it against the wall!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this very recently, mainly to temper chocolate. I have used it twice for this and it works great. I absolutely recommend it for this use. It's easy, it works well, and the chocolate came out perfect. Now the but... it is also supposed to heat liquids up to desired temperatures while stirring. I tried to make homemade ricotta which requires the milk to be heated to about 200 degrees. I set the machine up, filled it to just below the fill line and set it going. IT TOOK FOREVER! After a little over an hour, it reached just 185 and wasn't moving. I gave up. It didn't work. The milk was hot but never got to the temperature I needed. This will be an expensive gizmo if I can only use it for chocolate.

Helped make my holiday meal prep so much easier!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I usually try to come up with something different every year during our family holiday get together. This year I decided to make homemade bread bowls with a few different fillings to choose from. The Kitchenaid Precise Heating Bowl made making bread dough a breeze, especially when it came to proofing the dough which I haven’t always had the best results in the past since my house can be on the cool and drafty side at times but this year I didn’t have to worry about that since the dough rose up perfectly in the heated bowl. I also used the Kitchenaid Precise Heating Bowl to make a broccoli and cheese soup as one of the fillings for the bread bowls and it turned out perfect. The only reason I gave the bowl 4 stars instead of 5 is because of how long it takes to reach its target temperature.

Imprecise Heat Mixing Bowl

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this and have had to return the item twice. It does not heat to a precise temperature, the first one cooked the dough that was proving. The second one reached 7 degrees higher than the selected temperature. Very disappointing product. No customer service available in UK for this item.

I love the idea and the product, but can't stand to use it because of the electric motor smell. It hasn't gone away and is bothersome enough to give headaches. My livelihood relies on income from baking and I was so hopeful but in the end disappointed.
