This thing is really fun to use. The first thing I made was some vanilla almond bark. I made the mistake of not chopping the white chocolate small enough, so it did take a while to melt completely. But once it did, it was very smooth and creamy, exactly the right texture you want for bark. I added in more white chocolate to temper (this time I chopped it up small) and the bark came out delicious and with that perfect snap. It's lasted more than a week now with no discoloration, which you usually get with untempered or incorrectly tempered chocolate. I'll be snacking on it a few more weeks for sure.
I also made a bread dough and let it rise in the Precise Heat bowl. I absolutely love that this can be used as a standalone device, if you're making something that doesn't need mixing. The dough doubled in size like it was supposed to, and was baked into a delicious bread. I'm going to take credit for that one.
Pros: can heat to certain temperature, can be used with mixer or as a standalone
Cons: need to chop chocolate pretty small to melt

I LOVE THIS HEATING BOWL!!

I hesitated buying this bowl as I felt it was expensive. After using it, I feel it's worth every penny. I've only used it for yogurt, but I've used it consistently and frequently since I purchased it approximately one year ago. It's made it so easy!! I absolutely love it and would highly recommend it. I'm wondering if the slow heating mentioned by previous reviewers is partially due to not preheating the unit as mentioned in the instructions. As I recall, for yogurt, they recommend preheating and letting the milk reach room temperature before heating. I found this does make a difference in reaching the desired heating temperature. I feel being able to use the unit without attaching it to the mixer makes it much more versatile and user friendly for using it for multiple purposes. At first I would have liked the unit to be larger, however, after using it repeatedly for yogurt, I found it the perfect size to put a half gallon of milk and simply set the timer. I'm looking forward to experimenting with other things as making candy etc. I agree with the reviewer who mentioned the bowl locking system. It's a little hard to lock. Also, I feel the temperature alarm should be louder as it is very low. As with all new appliances, it takes a while to get use to, but once you understand how it works, it's very easy to operate.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this for chocolate tempering. I couldn't be more please. No more temp guessing. And will hold the temp for 10 hours along with being stirred. Lovely. Candy makers delight. I can't wait to try other things in the Precise Heat Mixing Bowl. Very happy with my purchase.

I always wanted to try tempering chocolate but it just seemed complicated. I followed the instructions provided with the bowl and the result was perfectly tempered chocolate the first try. I'm sold. My husband surprised me with this gift and I love it.
I love this bowl. I have melted chocolates and dipped strawberries, I have used it to melt candy melts in, I have used it to proof bread doughs several times! One of my new favorite gadgets to go with my mixer
This product was something I looked at for months before I actually purchased. On the flip side I was hand tempering pounds at a time with mixed results and it was frustrating. I finally purchased this and after two runs which is hundreds of pieces and pounds of chocolate here is what I found. 1. It works 2. The process of melting even after chopping all the chocolate is a little shoddy in that half way through there are 3 or so brick style mounds of chocolate being stirred around and you fear for your mixers life however it works it out you just have to trust it. If it kills my mixer I will let you know. 3. The bowl could stand to be just a bit wider so two people can dip in it alternating removal of pieces making in a faster process. 4. If it holds up I would buy a second one and truly that's saying something. 5. The 10 hour hold is a fantastic feature it also works 6. The securing of the outer bowl to the inner one could be a little more easy or at least a click or signal when it's locked other than turning it the right way I feel like I am gonna over tighten it trying to secure it. Would just be a more comfortable knowing its there then guessing by lifting on it. I would hate for it to separate and bounce the machine on the counter. 7. Just for a reference I do love every other kitchen aid product I have bought in the past and we have three here but this opinion is unbiased as you can tell and I do a have a culinary degree from Johnson & Wales University so I hope you will trust me when I say definitely worth the price and will do the job. Just note the above points and be patient. *also it wouldn't let me rate all the different features below i.e. Quality, ease of use,etc

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It makes bread so much easier to make. I can knead it in the bowl and let it rise, then put knead it again and put it in a regular bread baking pan and get really nice loaves of bread.
