Great Range for the price.

I would definitely recommend it to friends and family. I looked a several different options, and I am extremely pleased with my choice.

Basic 40s stove and unsafe

I bought a house revently and this brand new syove along with a brand new dishwasher from Amana was included. At first I thought great new Amana appliance and i was happy. But after i was in escrow, and during home inspection
I realized what a cheap product this gas stove is. I havent tried the dishwasher but if stove is an indactive of quality, and design, I am afraid i will be disappointed.

I am a former Safety Compliance Engineer with UL aka Underwriters Laboratories, served fir 10 years investigating varioues products. I can tell you I wouldn't let this item to bear the UL listing Mark.
1, The entire back of this stove is open and exposed. The stove was designed with its back to the wall, but even in this configuration, you dont want exposed wiring and worst the oven cavaity being so close to gas pipe line. In my kitchen, the stove top is open to living room. Not only its unsightly, it is a hazard, as the lower portion, back of the oven cavity which doesn't have additional cover is within 6 inches of the plywood cabinet.

2. The gas shut off valve is behind the stove and requires a long plier to access and close in case of emergency. This is installation issue and not Amana's fault
3. There are no indicating light of any sort to inform people the oven is on. Or what temperature it has reached. How is one suppose to know of the oven temperature? For example you want to preheat oven to 400 degree.
4. There is no window on the oven door or light inside.!! How cheap can you get?
5.I dont have the manual and basically looked on line, but there is not much there on thid stove to begin with.
6, Here on these reviewes I found out whatvi considered pots and pan drawer is actually the broiler section. How stupid of designer to put brolier so low to the floor that you have sit on the floor to remove or put your food in the hot brolier!

I found out from the realtor where this appliance was purchased and called them. After sending them photos of the stove, I was told this is how the unit came ftom factory , no rear cover!
I am now trying to find drawings of this stove to verify if indeed this stove is shipped without rear cover. If its true, UL, CSA, ETL, TUV and any other safety agency approving this stove will hear from me, federal government , etc.
At the earliest opportumity, I am going to purchase another stove , hopefully an Electric one, if not a different brand all together.
Amana support, you can spare the boiler plate generic response. I would however appreciate a user manual, drawing with exploded view and part number, so I can purchase the rear cover if this was an oversight on the part of dealer.
I know Amana has various models and most are well equipped, but putting this model out will only have adverse effects on Amana brand.
