No light on screen and black interior.

This is the fifth GE Profile Over-the-Range microwave I have owned in various houses-and my least favorite! First, there is no lighting on the control panel except in the clock area. My eyesight is good and I still have to turn every light in the kitchen on to check the eleven controls around the Dial. They are still almost unreadable in their murky gray color. And why the Black interior? The whole appliance is depressing. What were your engineers/designers thinking? You should have stuck with what worked.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good Microwave

DOA Upon Installation

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We got this microwave with out new home. The builder noticed a fan issue immediately during our pre-settlment walk through. The fan was replaced and it heated water but wouldn't cook a 3 oz. bag of popcorn to completion. GE wanted to replace another part but the builder helped us get a new unit installed. Our fingers are crossed that this microwave will work better than the first one.

Beautiful, functional mic

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This microwave, is a one touch wonder...most have press a minute, this one you can press up to number nine, however minutes needed with one touch, and it starts. no hitting power, time, start...one touch. Love this. and the turntable is huge. lots of room. not hooked up for the fan, etc. but using it till cabinets are installed. love it.

Love the microwave, not so good as a vent

The microwave works well and I love the microwave features.
My only complaint is with the ability to function as a vent. The suction is not nearly strong enough to actually pull vapors / smoke from the stove top.
I even bought one model, and then replaced with this one because it has a 5-speed vent, on two sides of the bottom of the microwave. The speed of the air exiting the top of the microwave is much stronger than the speed of the suction on the bottom of the microwave. The suction is barely stong enough to hold up a paper towel.
If I had know this - I would have redesigned my kitchen to have a "real" vent, and placed a built in microwave elsewhere.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this to replace our old GE Profile Microwave (12 years old). This one seems to heat more uniformly and quicker that the last. Thought the price was high, but the over the stove models are all pricier.

The handle melts

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This may be a highly functional microwave, but the handle has peeled and melted twice in 6 months of use. It definitely has design issues especially when it is installed over the matching range with the high power burner.
