This vent works very quietly and goes up and down easily though sometimes I am not sure which part to push for it to go down

We had our downdraft installed 2 months ago and have not used it once because it has not worked. The repair person has ordered parts 3 times over and the final conclusion is the whole appliance needs to be replaced--evidently a engineering design flaw that prevets the repair, so when a small piece needs to be replaced to remedy the issue, it can't be accessed, therefore is irreplacable and the entire appliance needs to be replaced. We are definitely hoping it works well once we have an opportunity to use it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good downdraft exhaust fan

Needed to replace downdraft when I replaced cooktop and this item was very complementary with the GE cooktop I purchased. Like the operation although we have not used it that much yet.

More powerful than I expected

We bought this unit specifically so we would not have to provide replacement air, and as such I had low expectations. It turns out to work great thoroughly drawing steam and smoke away from the cooktop quickly.

I've had never used this type of ventilation system before but since my stove top is on my island, this was a perfect option for us. I didn't want to obstruct my view while cooking so we installed this downdraft system and I love it. It's easy to use, it has adjustable speeds and it isn't any noisier than the overhead fan system. I highly recommend it!

read other reviews some of which said this unit was not powerful enough, we have not had that problem, sucks all the smoke up no problem
