Powerful Little Machine

Just received my S55 today. I have two other Vitamixers both which are the larger ones. I really like the S55 for the individual serving size. I plan on using this one for travel. I really think I will be using it all of the time. It is wonderful.
Pros: Power, Texture Quality, Easy to use, Durability

Not over the moon!

I bought this to replace another single serving blender and to function as a food processor. Onions and carrots chopped nicely. Blended a sauce smoothly. But it's the smoothies... I precisely follow the instructions to load the 20 ounce container and I find powder is not blended, clumped in the bottom of the contain along with my one inch wide frozen banana slices. And so I get the spatula out, loosen the stuff at the bottom and mix it again. No, I am not packing the ingredients down when I load the container. Everything is loosely placed and doesn't exceed 2/3 of the container. How they all bunch up there? I don't know. After wanting a Vitamix for so long, sure it would be great, I am so disappointed.

I love Vitamix so much I had to add this mini one to my collection, this little S55 is louder than my other 2 Vitamix and its not as powerful. overall its as strong as my Nutri bullet 900 but louder, I only recommend it because its good for smaller jobs and the tamper, which the bullet does not have! I should have just bought a smaller cup for my regular Vitamix.
Pros: Easy to use

I’m an avid smoothie/ shake person! I make a shake every day and I was so excited to finally try a vitamix blender. We were able to get one with credit card points. We’ve had it about a year now and I cuss every single time I use it! Other then the fact the motor doesn’t seem to fail like other blenders I’ve used, it DOES NOT blend well at all! It takes about 3 times for it to blend frozen fruit (1/2 is bananas and berries) on the sensory setting. There’s been several times I’ve put my straw in the cup and the banana hasn’t been touched. I never write reviews, but for as much as this blender cost I’ll try to save the next person the hassel and money!

I will NOT make hot soup

I thought it would, as advertised on the box and the website. Other than it won't make hot soup, it seems fine.

My wife purchased this machine for me, for Christmas. She knows I love a good smoothie and to do that, requires a great machine, which is why she got me the Vitamix S55. The reason she went with this model is because it fits under our kitchen cabinet.
Being that I was a previous Vitamix owner (wore out the bushing on the old one) she knew that I'd love to have a new one. This one did not disappoint me. I appreciate the presets. What I do wish is that Vitamix provide all of their documentation, recipe book included, in a PDF format for those of us who require the use of adaptive equipment to view documents. In my case, I'd appreciate being able to view it on the PC or my iPad.

Got one today and read the enclosed info on how to make a smoothie, looked at you tube and other reviews. After three tries, I want to throw it out the window. None of the three tries worked without having to use the tamper, and the third try had large chunks of apple and two blackberries that were untouched. Not going to spend another minute on it. Taking it back as soon as the store opens.

Does NOT Work as Advertised

I was SO excited about this product. I expected to be able to make soup or even nut butters with this blender (as advertised!), but it does NOT work. I can't even make a fruit smoothie without big chunks! The first few times I tried to use it I assumed I was doing something wrong, but after owning it for a few months I have realized it simply does not work. I almost never leave reviews, but have to warn other buyers to avoid this product!

Hi there! The S55 is capable of blending tough recipes like nut butters or thick smoothies. It is important to use high speed throughout the majority of your blend, and be sure to work your recipe into the blades using the tamper. Heavy blends like nut butters and frozen fruit smoothies require the use of the tamper. Make sure you roasted nuts and oil in your nut butters, and tamp through any air pockets that can rise in soft soup recipes.
