I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!
I've been using my Vitamix Elite for a couple years now and it was worth the investment! The quality of my recipes have improved greatly! My smoothies, soups and sauces are like creamy silk now. No more grainy textures unless I choose to make it that way. Because of my husbands nut allergies I needed a separate blender. The S55 was a perfect choice since it was just for me. The performance is just as good! I love the removable blade and preheat settings. It makes preparing meals so much easier and quicker. Below are Few items I made with the S55.

We already have (and love) a "full size" Vitamix machine at home. Started looking at other less expensive brands, read reviews, watched how-to videos, and I just couldn't see buying anything else. We bought this beauty as a Christmas gift for my college freshman daughter to have in her dorm . It is esthetically pleasing, easy to use, easy to clean & a powerful machine. We love it!

We use this blender to make smoothies every single day in our house. Its very powerful, and everything I put into it including harder to blend greens, and frozen ingredients gets blended perfectly in no time. No chunks, just a super smooth drink. Easy to use, quick to clean. The personal size blending cup is great if your worried about portion control. Very Satisfied with this purchase. Fits on the counter perfectly without taking up much space.

When I purchased this Vitamix model, I already owned a Vitamix. But I wanted one with a smaller container basically for just smoothies and I also was attracted to the idea of being able to put the containers and blade on this model in the dishwasher rather than having to wash it by hand. I was hoping this newer model would fit the bill, and although it's a very good quality blender I found that it's just not worth the high price tag. The smoothie cup is not really large enough to hold the size smoothie that I like to make. And the unit is VERY noisy. I had to hold off and not use it too early in the morning for fear of waking up my neighbors next to me (we live in an apartment complex). After trying it for about a week, I decided to send it back and stick with the Vitamix model I've had for several years.

For a single person this is the vitamix to get or if you are just starting out. You get two containers and the larger of the two works great for double batches. I use mine every day. Smoothies, dips, desserts, etc.
