This is the perfect size for our use. The only issue is that you cannot leave the Vitamix on the counter while in use without watching it because it can move on it’s own.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't want a monster big machine as I don't have a lot of space, and this model was just the right machine. I make my daily smoothies most with it, and the time I have saved in prep work with my old Oster is no comparison. Time saved is worth the price! I am looking forward to trying other recipes with this new blender, too!

I was a bit skeptical since reading negative reviews.
However, once turning on the S55 it makes perfect whatever you want to make.
LEFT side dials for preset menus and awesome powerful 10 incremental dials on the Right. All you have to do is rotate the dial and push. That easy.

When you are used to the Vitamix 750 the S55 looks cute and familiar, a pleasure to work with, when situations do not allow you to have your big blender with you. You must adapt to a machine that allows you to handle smaller amounts at the time. If you are smoothie dependent and independent in your choices, if you can afford this second smaller machine, you will be able to be anywhere and continue your regimen.

Great powerful blending macgine. The size was the main reason for my decision. Less counterspace. The only thing I wish is if Vitamix offered a FILTER or STRAINER for these blenders. The to go container is not a good choice atcall. The cap is difficult to open and my hands are so tiny along with my children so we end up transfering the smoothies to our blender bottles or other sports container.

This is my third Vitamix. It's #3 not because the others stopped working - just the opposite. I've passed them down. #2 now makes power smoothies for the 19 year-old. The S55 is remarkable. Smaller footprint, lighter - and yet just as powerful and more versatile. Very easy to use - you'll be surprised at what you can make with it.
Many years back I bought #1 for one main reason. Most juicers filtered out the pulp from fruit and blenders and weren't really powerful enough to handle more than maybe bananas and oranges. A Vitamix can blend it ALL if you'd like and the pulp - extremely nutritious and an excellent source of fiber - is blended right in with the rest of the fruit. Nothing is wasted and clean-up is easy.
There's a reason why Vitamix has been around so long and sold so well. It's an investment that I believe makes a lot of sense.Once you see how easy it is to use and how different is is from ALL blenders of any price range - you'll be convinced.
I don't work for the company and have no reason to write a glowing other than I've used the brand for literally decades and am convinced it belongs in every kitchen.
