Cannot Regulate Temperature

I bought this model about a month ago. It looked like just what we needed for our camping trips. I burned off the new per the manual and thought it got excessively hot, more than the max on the thermometer. The first time I tried to cook on it I had the same result. I managed to cook steaks with some difficulty. The second time I burned the sausages. It made no difference whether I turned the regulator high or low. It was much too hot to cook on. I’m sorry I bought it and wish I had gone with a Cuisinart or Weber model.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

CLEANING DIFFICULT

CLEANING THIS GRILL IS MOST DIFFICULT.
The cooking grate comes out esily but cleaning cooked on foods requires a lot of time and elbow grease. The lid does not come off, and burner w/electrode does not designed for easy removal. The heatshield also does not come out for cleaning.and grease tray removal is a challenge.

No Flare Up!!!

Bought as gift for for fiance and used it for family 4th of July BBQ. Cooked 6 frozen burgers with wind going at a steady breeze and even then no Flare ups! Great smoke produced from the burgers own juices right back into the meat. The grill gave burgers and hot dogs great seat marks.Fiamce cooked the hotdogs to get herself familiar with grill and see the ease of cooking with it. She loves it and will be handy for get togethers away from home and again at home.
Just purchased infared 3 in 1 smoker, roaster, grill. Excited to try it out. Purchased it to replace Charbroil Red that final burnt itself out after 8 years. Would have lasted longer if I had protected from elements better and didn't allow the grease to burn itself off one time. It weakened the metal and coatings. Lesson learned.
Love the ease and no Flare ups, (keep clean and grease build up to a minimal) and easy of using wood chips to smoke with the grills.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A+ tailgate grill

Purchased January 2018 for ice fishing and have used it at several New England tailgates with flawless performance. The infrared is truly amazing this grill gets maxxed out hot when the burner is set as low as possible but doesn't overcook the meats. Super economical on fuel. Super portable. Rugged, easy to clean. I brag about it to anyone I see at tailgates.

Great BBQ every time

I bought this grill in July and was a little concerned about the reviews especially the complaints about not being able to lower the temp. But after using the grill a couple of times I was pleasantly surprised with the juiciest burgers and steak I have had in a long time. I now know that I just leave the temp on high, lid shut and the grill does it's best work. The only reason to open the lid is to flip the meat after searing or take it off the grill. Tonight I grilled a salmon fillet, delicious! Sadly though, I kicked my old Weber to the curb.
I would recommend this to a friend!

When I first got this grill I liked the way it heated up fast but soon learned that there is no way to grill on medium heat. After reading other reviews concerning this defect I feel that all the current owners deserve a new "working" regulator. I will call customer service and try to get a new regulator. I don't understand why Char-Broil is not getting in front of this problem that seems to affect many of its customers.

We bought this and used it approx. 10-15 times over the last couple of years. The regulator broke and when we wanted to repace it--the part had been replaced with a different part and the web sight said they couldn't tell if it would work on our product.

Built well, burns hotter than a welding torch

Bought 3 summers ago and wish I wouldn't of. Generally we have used the cheap throw away type portable grills but figured a nice grill would be worth it. On low with the lid open (because it's worse shut) you must keep the weiners/brats/hamburgers moving or they get burned to carbon on the outside and stay uncooked in the center.
