Recommended for a close, smooth shave!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given this product by Remington to test for free; all opinions expressed are my own. I personally do not have facial hair, so I gave this to my husband to test out. Typically my husband is more of a disposable razor and shaving cream type of guy, but he was more than willing to give this type of electric shaver a try. He was extremely impressed with how quick it charged and was ready to use. He loved the wet/dry feature this shaver also includes; he loved being able to take it in the shower with him. The shave that it gave him was like no other electric razor he has tried in the past. The close shave it left on his face, made his face super smooth and soft. He also shaves his head on a monthly basis, and was super impressed as to how well this shaver performed on his scalp. Definitely recommend this type of shaver if you're in the market for a great, close, smooth shave!

Nice Shaver

My husband has always wanted to try an electric shaver because he gets major breakouts from reusable manual razors so we were both excited to get this and try it out. The razor is very nice, easy to hold. He loved that it came with the personal groomer so he doesn't have to use a sepearate piece this is built in. It was nice that this works wet or dry. The quick charge was nice to be able to charge and use in a hurry. There was no breakouts which is what was so great about this electric razor. The only issue is it didnt't get as close a shave as he would have liked, but overall it was a really great razor. I decided I would try this on my legs and it worked just as good, no reason he should get a quick close shave and not me right?!!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Smooth, even shave every time

My teenage son was in need of an electric razor and I asked him to test it out and let me know how he liked it. The shave was smooth and he liked the flexibility of the shaving head. It allowed the razor to move with the contours of his face making shaving quicker and easier. He had no issues with missed spots or hair pulling (as can happen sometimes with razors that aren't very sharp). Plus he loved that he could use it wet or dry.
Overall he is very happy with the Smart Edge Shaver and highly recommends it. He even had a friend buy one after telling him about it!
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since I am female I obviously gave my husband this razor to use and this is his review.
At first I was not sure about using an electric razor. I have tried a few in the past and none have given a close enough shave. But after using the Remington XF8550 razor for a couple of months I find I really like it. I read the instructions and some reviews and recommend following the suggestions in both. Those include using gel, shaving in the shower, and using a circular motion.
The first time I used the Remington XF8550 I tried it completely dry. No shaving cream, no gel, and not in the shower. I knew that wasn't recommended but wanted to see how it did. It didn't shave as a close as a blade that way. However it did shave close enough that the remaining stubble was not visible, and could only be detected by running my hand across my face. It didn't irritate my sensitive skin.
Since then I have tried it using every combination of cream and gel and in and out of the shower. It definitely works best with gel in the shower, as the directions recommend, followed by touch ups dry out of the shower to get any spots that were missed. There always seems to be a spot that doesn't get shaved, by I think that's operator error. In the shower I did not have a mirror so I was going only by feel, and think I kept missing a spot.
Shaving in the shower was a new experience for me. I have always shaved with blades before showering. Previous electrics I tried were not waterproof, so shaving in the shower was not an option. Being waterproof, the Remington XF8550 opens up the option to shave in the shower and I find that I like it, but am still getting used to it. Being waterproof also makes cleanup a breeze. Just pop the top off and wash it with hot water.
It seems to charge quickly and maintain a charge for a long time. I have only had to charge it about once a month. The retractable trimmer on the back has been very useful for ear, and nose hair and touching up.
I think I have given up blade shaving, and will be exclusively using the Remington XF8550 from now on.

it performs as I hoped it would I had a 4700 razor that did a great job wish I could have just put in new battery instead of having to replace it but the one I purchased does even better job I hope this one lasts as long as my last one

Smart Edge no match for old Triple Foil

Too bad you no longer make a tripe foil shaver. The smart edge does not meet the performance. Very disappointed. Taking twice as long to get the same shave. I've had Remington electric shavers for 50 years. Considering returning.
