Lots of room

new whirlpool

I have owned this about 10 days. The first thing I noticed is that the fan does not blow hard enough to cool down quickly on the refrigerator side. There is just a small amount of air coming out of the vent. This makes the compressor run longer. 14 minutes to be exact. Compressor stays on 14 min and then stays off 32 min before it comes on again. If this makes my powerbill go up a lot then I will take it back for something different. On 14 and off32 means that the compressor has to run about 49 percent of the day. Not sure if this was a good purchase or not. My 1st whirlpool was good for 12 years. Was hoping for that again.

A Little Disapointed

I purchased this in May of 2015. The units design is great with clean lines. The stainless handles add a nice detail. The unit keeps a strong temp in both the freezer and fridge compartments. Now for the negative, this unit is noisy when the mechanics kick in, it growls and sounds almost like the fan is hitting something. When you try to get a "cold" class of water, you don't, it comes out warm at first, you have to get a glass, pour that out and refill the glass to get a cold flow (if your lucky), the whole idea is to get cold water when you want on the first try. I do not know if I need service or a replacement for this unit. We have had Whirpool products before and they have been great, not this one.

Well made unit with good storage space

We have had this in our kitchen for about a month and find it well made and has good storage space in the refrigerator and the freezer. The in door ice maker makes more space available for items in the freezer. The few small improvements items we have found it that it takes a long time to make ice to fill up the bin. The other item is that when dispensing crushed ice small pieces shoot out and miss the glass no matter how close it is to the opening. If they extended the dispenser about an inch closer you could get your glass under there and this would prevent this. Overall a good product.

How long has the side by side been out. And how many complaints have come about not having the proper storage complicity. There are so many things that won't fit in the refrigerator. This refrigerator was part of the new house. I wish there was a way I could trade it in without taking a bath for a reasonable refrigerator.

I like this side by side refrigerator inside and out if you can stand the constant high pitched whine from the fan that runs almost constantly. When I open the front door to my home, I can hear it immediately and the kitchen is in the back of the house. This I was told was "normal". Maybe normal for the hard of hearing to live with. Most annoying and unacceptable for me. My white noise machine doesn't even block it out!!! This new refrigerator is less than 1 month old.

Ice maker needs revamping.

I love everything about my side by side except the ice maker. It doesn't produce fast enough and doesn't have a very large ice storage compartment. I have to buy at least one bag of ice every week because it can't keep up. Only 4 people in my home. I wish I had kept my old Whirlpool side by side with large ice maker and storage. Also, I would not recommend the smooth black finish. My old one had a textured black finish it did not show fingerprints and scuffs.
