I have an older version as well, which is still WONDERFUL. This one has not let us down at all. I was surprised at how much weight these have shed from a couple years. It was MUCH easier to carry up and down stairs in our three story home. We love using the timer, and remote control. It is surprisingly quiet in operation too. We couldn't imagine not having these around.
Bonus: I can use it to help dehumidify and "Clear" the air for my asthma! Usually a muggy day makes it harder for me to breathe and I enjoy using my portable air conditioner to improve indoor breathing quality too.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality

I bought this air conditioner for my aging dog who has trouble breathing on hot summer days. I soon realized that the cooling air was great for me too. It's a very good, healthy product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I owned this model for three years and it works great. It cools a small room to a comfortable temp. in minutes. Lighted digital display helps to adjust temp without turning on the lights. The remote control adjust everything, temp, fan speed, dry or cool air. It has an energy saving mode, too. Cycles on and off to maintain temp. It has three fan speeds and really circulates air well. I can roll it from one room to another without stressing my body. I just slip exhaust into the window and start it up.

Worked well for 2 summers.

Bought this unit 2 years ago. This is the 3rd summer in the Northeast. The unit now does not evaporate well and it needs to be drained after 4-6 hours of operation. Most likely a bad float switch and it’s almost impossible to get a certified service place in our area.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We don’t live in a hot area so we just use this during the summer to keep the bedroom cool. I usually just run it a little during the evening and it gets it cool enough that it’s good for the night. I have used the dehumidifier function after cleaning the carpets and it’s amazing how much faster the carpets dry out. Normally we don’t use the dehumidifier because it is very dry where we live. I never have to empty any water from it, except when cleaning the carpet! As far as noise I think it’s average for a portable air conditioner. If you run it full blast with the fan on the highest setting it is noisy, and if you put it on power saver it is more quiet. I’m not used to noise at night, not even a fan, so it would keep me awake regardless of how quiet it was. We have never had any problems with it. I believe it’s about eight years old. I would look at LG if I was buying another air conditioner.

The need to empty this unit by hand every 2 hours during the night is very difficult. I end up shutting it off and living with a fan. There should have been a simpler way to acconplish this without having to use a container under the unit, which is close to the floor, and tipping the unit. This procedure takes about 20 min. before I can return to bed.

Had this unit for almost two years in that time I've maybe had to empty the water in it 5 or 6 times. About few days ago it started shutting off because the water tray was full, we live in Southern California so the humidity isn't a high factor. No problem emptied the water after unplugging the unit and cleaned the filter ran ok for me..... so I thought. I work swing shift wife calls me at work saying the unit stopped working again because of the water tray getting full she only ran it for an hour. No problem drained it when I got home ran for an hour shut off again and hearing it beep at 3 am in the morning because yup the water tray was full again, unplugged it. Following day I drained it once again let it sit for a day so it could dry out. Once it was dry I took the front cover off, grabbed my air compressor with air nozzle and blew all the crude out of inside. We have 3 cats so there was cat hair every where. Once I got all the cat hair removed, I re-installed the front cover which by the way has about 8 screws holding it on. Plugged it in ran it for 2 hours no more excessive water build up in the water tray. :) Real test comes tonight when the wife gets home.

Purchase is OK. I like the features, (ex. oscillating vent, on/off timer). Don't like the vent pipe and connections. I have an older house with older windows. Vent will not stay in the ventilation hole (vent rest on window sill- does not make a good connection) in the window ventilation kit.
