I've tried generic, but the ink cartridge does not work well. Needs HP cartridge and it is expensive. Definitely not for kids.

I have been ordering replacement ink on line since I bought my HP printer many years ago. Easy to navigate the HP site ..delivery is fast which is good because I sometimes leave it a little close for comfort

Quality ink. Price way TOO high. Changed printing settings several time, usually after adding cartridge. It never come close to the number of pages it claims to cover. Don't have any other options, so got to use it.

I bought this only because I was pushed into a corner to do so. I originally ordered a re-manufactured cartridge but found out quickly that HP has prohibited the use. This upset me because I own my printer and should be able to use what I want to. I’m on a fixed income and the latter was more affordable. I soon realized that although I own it, HP controlled it. This made me realize that I will shop for non-HP products in the future.
Other than the frustration I experienced-ordering the HP cartridge was easy and was in my hands w/in 2 days and is working good.
In the future...hp should allow us the freedom of using various cartridges that we choose. You are definitely not looking at the big picture.
