The ink cartridge is advertised to print "200 copies". I make about 25 copies a week. A cartridge lasts me about 3 weeks, if I'm lucky. Very, very disappointing. I am spending a fortune on ink cartridges.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi,
I am truly sorry that you had this sort of experience. The advertised estimates of pages are based on a standard set of prints used by the industry. How each individual cartridge will perform for you is determined by your own usage and environmental factors such as warm and very dry air.
Also, in this type of situation, it is quite possible that the printer is not being shut down in a way that conserves ink.
If something other than the printer's power button is used to turn the printer off (a power strip perhaps) the inkjets can get clogged and not spray the ink out very well. There is a cleaning routine available from the printer's menu that you can use to clear them out.
Although it is a good idea to shut the printer down between uses, it is important to always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives time for a ‘parking routine" so that the cartridge is protected from excessive drying (which leads to clogs forming in the inkjets).
I use only HP Original Ink Cartridges in my printer and will drive out of my way to buy them. They are reliable and work as advertised. That means everything to me for any product I use.
