I never have a problem with TurboTaz. It is so hard to do taxes manually with forms, paper, instructions, etc. They make taxes so difficult that if it wasn't for products like this we would all have to go to a CPA.
What's great about it: Versatile, quick, and full featured
What's not so great: non

Easy step-by-step instructions!

Turbo Tax takes the confusion out of taxes. It's super easy to use, following step-by-step instructions, and even allows a switch to the forms method. I love the "estimator" feature where I can enter an estimated amount and return to enter the exact amount prior to filing. The error check is a great feature!
What's great about it: Easy to use
Pros: I bought or sold investments

The program did not bring forward the loss carryover to this year"s return. I had to work it in myself.

I logged an issue re HSA calculations, as TurboTax indicated I had contributed excess amounts, resulting in higher taxes. I pointed out errors in the forms and calculations (and that the same error existed in TurboTax 2014 & 2013). Once they finally agreed there might be a problem, I asked how do I get it corrected. I tried changing the amounts on the forms themselves, but they did not carry back to the data and calculations. I was eventually told I would have to do my forms manually, and mail them. I went ahead and eFiled to meet the deadlines, but if I'm doing anything manually, it will be corrected tax returns.
As a result, I do not plan on using TurboTax next year.
What's great about it: Question answer format guides you through. Points out possible issues.
What's not so great: When I identified an issue, could not get it corrected

Very Good but Some Problems
on October 11, 2016

Although I have mentioned this on several occasions to Intuit Executives, I find the small font size that I am forced to deal with is hard to read when entering and reading data. Almost EVERY other product I use (Schwab, Apple, Microsoft, etc.) has an EASY
ability using "Command +" to enlarge the field for easy reading and working on, WITHOUT affecting the final product that must be produced within alignment and space restrictions.

I appreciate the ability to print a copy of just the "screen face' when I want to replace a single form or back-up sheet, but there were many instances when I wanted a copy of a "help" explanation and could NOT get it. So I was forced into using pen
and paper to make notes of such data - taking much too much time, and being very frustrating.

There are many instances when an entry is automatically "filled" from entries in other locations. When I want to change that entry,
it is very difficult to find it's point of origin. I would very much like to be able to "double-click" on the space and be transferred back to the data's original point of entry.

While working on Sked C, I somehow got directed into "Home Office" forms that I did NOT want to use, and even when I eliminated all those forms, I kept getting an "error" message about an incomplete entry, that was still showing when I e-filed my otherwise completed Tax Return, creating a worry that it might complicate IRS "acceptance" of my Return.

After my data entry completion, I wanted to get a complete "hard" copy of all entries, long BEFORE getting to the "Submission" stage. So I used a "Print a copy for your Records"
entry, and got all 145 pages of everything, which was great - I found many entries that needed correction (many because of the fond size problem). One of those pages was the "File by Mail Instructions", which (of course) had several preliminary wrong data. After making all the needed corrections and ready to "File" the Return, I could never get a corrected "File by ... Instruction"
page for my Records. Please include that Page along with all the other Forms that can be selected for printing with the "Print Screen" selection.

Thanks for your help on these issues. I want the product to be the best it can be. I am an Intuit shareholder, and do attend your Annual Meetings. Carl Hoffner
What's great about it: It gets the job done simply and easily
What's not so great: Some details are just plain annoying

I Love TurboTax
on October 11, 2016

I like it most is that I can try different ways and save them in different versions. I choose the version that gives me the maximum return. It gives me confident and peace of mind. I used to hair an account to do my tax. I gathered all of the information and they used less than 30 minutes to do my tax. With Turbo Tax I can take my time to do it. If I don't understand I can search online to get my answer. I do feel it is more accurate this way, and I save money too. I've been using it for 3 years, and plan to use it again this year.
What's great about it: Easy to use, has lots of help, and good coverage
What's not so great: I wish the help will be more every day language and with more examples.

Peace of mind every time

A good tool with lots of helpful insights. Needs more thorough listing for Military banking institutes to link for data. Foreign Earned Income section needs a tighter line-by-line approach to avoid needing corrections at later point.
What's great about it: Good user interface
What's not so great: Foreing Earned Income initially skips things caught at end...needs tweaking.
