Worked well for me in the past but the last couple of years we had only Foreign Earned Income. It is very difficult to generate the correct 1116 and 2225 forms. When you change the exclusion amount, the forms are not corrected and the return may be mixed up big time so you had to do a lot of reading and manual corrections.
It would be nice if this gets fixed next year.
What's great about it: used it for many years while in the US and it worked well
What's not so great: Has a few bugs when you file with Foregn Earned Income

Good, but Forms/Updates are late in game > 2015

-If you are a dependent on another's tax return, your income does not "flow" into their form 8962, line 2b. It was not asked for in the StepbyStep questions. I knew to put it there, only by previous year's work on these healthcare forms, by hand, reading through calculations worksheets - really in the weeds.
The rest of that form lost me, so hope the s/w is doing it all correctly.

What's great about it: Now mandatory s/w to prep for obamacare enrollment/exemptions
What's not so great: Late releases of healthcare forms, and updates even after 4/18/16

I loved turbo tax. Really, if you are prepared with all your documents or login info for your online accounts, then it's super fast. I did wish I could see an overview in a separate window at the same time as I was filling out each 'page', but hey. That's a minor thing.
What's great about it: easy
What's not so great: just a bit of info at a time, no overview

Federal, and Two States Filing

I had to review the whole process about 5 times, there are so many complications involved. I would like to see the tax bracket I am in, but could not find it. That used to be a feature. i.e. I could see if I was in the 15% bracket or other. Now I couldn't do that. I know I can figure that out, but it was a nice summary feature to help you evaluate the bottom line.
What's great about it: Federal Taxes were easy to follow and file
What's not so great: The states had a lot of additional stuff to manually produce, making it hard to understand.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments, I moved

Makes all these forms so much easier

TurboTax is pretty straight forward and easy to follow. It is reasonable in cost. I feel that it is correctly completed.
What's great about it: guides you through all the hoops and hurdles
What's not so great: sometimes you have to guide yourself a little bit

I have used Turbo Tax for many years and like that you get better each year and it makes it easier to use
What's great about it: Easy to prepare and time for completing taxes shorter than prior years
What's not so great: do not have any
