What's great about it: Especially great if you used it in the past.
What's not so great: Wont allow to enter zero for all items in a section, need to go one by one.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Only program for taxes I ever have used

I wish there was some overall guidance for doing a tax return. for example, should I enter all the 1099s before I tackle the income and deductions?
When entering royalty and lease income, it seems all too easy to create unneeded Schedule Cs. It seems almost impossible to enter multiple 1099s for the same property.
I also think that if I receive a K-1 with more than one business line checked, I ought to be able to enter it exactly that way as well and not have to split it into multiple TurboTax K-1s.
It turned out that I did not have to file Form 926, so I was able to file electronically. But it seems odd that just this one form being needed forces me to print a 150-page tax return and mail it in!
What's great about it: Cheaper than a CPA
What's not so great: Does not support Form 926; too easy to create unneeded Schedule Cs

Turbo Tax is the best tax preparation software available. Only one real glitch, but if you're used to working on the IRS forms you may be frustrated not seeing them until you print your return. Of course you can always go back and change something if necessary before submitting to the IRS.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax asks all the right questions
What's not so great: 2015 Update did not work & I waste 2 hours repeatedly trying since I was not permitted to e-file until the SW updated.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I loved the compare my return to others summary and other suggestions for deductions you used to provide. Can you add this back, please?
What's great about it: Easy to understand each step and question.
What's not so great: One spouse question was vague but it's less likely for others.

THOROUGH, BUT WITH LONG DELAY

My Federal Tax Return was e-filed through Turbo Tax with no major issues.
I also completed the State Return using TurboTax, but wanted to pay the full amount I owed later.
It took hours to finally get to the page on the site that confirmed the return was sent to the state because, as my wife was told by a customer service rep, the servers were down. All we wanted to do was pay the fee to file the State Return because you can't process your Tax Payment until that is done.
The experience filing the State Return was very frustrating because it consumed most of my day. On the plus side, the rep my wife spoke on the phone was very nice and did the best she could to help.
What's great about it: Reliable transmission of Federal and State Returns.
What's not so great: When the program is buggy, it's a pure headache.

Reluctant CPA

My CPA, wife, had me complete our returns via a phone conversation. I am not familiar with filing taxes as I once was so she guided me through the process.
What's great about it: Easy to use with a little help.
What's not so great: Must know what to look for options that are not on automated process.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

As a retired minister I receive a housing allowance reported on a 1099. Housing expenses are not taxable as long as the amount is less than the amount printed on the 1099. On the 1099 is printed "tax amount not determined."
It is not clear how to properly report this item and thus I experienced much difficulty in trying to resolve this tax issue. Would appreciate your investigating this issue.
What's great about it: Pleased with ability to transfer information from previous year's return.
What's not so great: Items regarding Minister's Housing Allowance not clear.
