I've been a Turbo-Tax user since 1992 and have enjoyed the ease of completion that only a tax professional would have employed. I'm a continuing customer.
What's great about it: Great Program
What's not so great: None
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Hard to Figure Out How Entry Numbers Calculated
on April 29, 2016
Posted by: rgtaylor49
I wanted to understand that the numbers Turbo Tax put in the return were accurate but this is impossible to do. Calculation are done but the basis on how the numbers are calculated isn't in the worksheets. I had several numbers in the return and in the worksheets, I couldn't identify from my inputs and didn't make any sense to me but are probably right but I couldn't confirm because not enough information was provided on the calculations.
What's great about it: Generally Good
What's not so great: Can't figure our how numbers were calculated

first time with turbotax
on April 30, 2016

Very slick dialogue and ease of use. questions are straight-forward. I've used the "other" software for years and had an accountant the last couple years. This was fairly painless. My only complaint is moving between the actual form and the dialogues. i like to see the numbers on the forms, not that I need to but, I seemed to struggle more going back and forth. For those that never want to see the actual form this software is a godsend.
What's great about it: easy to use, hides the annoying details of the actual tax return
What's not so great: harder to jump between the actual return and the dialogue
Pros: I bought or sold investments

2015

This is my eleventh year to use Turbo Tax. I am finding that the more complicated the tax code becomes the more time it takes to complete the process.
What's great about it: Easy entry of data
What's not so great: After input is massaged it is impossible to track how it got to forms other than entry forms.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Had to hire a tax accountant
on May 1, 2016
Posted by: wph56
Generally disappointed with this year's turbo tax. After spending too many unnecessary hours trying in vain to work through issues that i've never had to deal with using Turbo Tax, I've opted to hire an accountant and file amended returns.
What's not so great: Did not import previous year's return. Instructions for a 1099 Misc lead me down the wrong path.
