Helpful as Usual

Did find very useful; however some fields were automatically deleted and had to be reentered???? Slightly more frustrating than prior years. Have been using Turbo Tax for over 15 years.
What's great about it: Was very complete and logical process.
What's not so great: Appears that a few areas this year were more complicated.

Made a complicated task tolerable.

Have been using TurboTax for many years, without any regrets. Thus the feature of pulling in last years info is the first big plus. Next is the user friendly interviewing approach to capturing your data. Having the end totals (Fed & State) constantly displayed and updated in real time as you input your info, is also great. Did hit a speed bump when processing a 1099S from the sale of raw land and its "Gross Proceeds" entry. A search and find on the internet yielded an explanation though. That is an additional benefit of using an app that millions of other folks do too. If there is a bug in the code, it will not stay a secret for long. Overall, still a big fan of this product and approach to a very unpleasant task.
What's great about it: Solid programming and mostly user friendly.
What's not so great: An occassional "quirk" can consume your time...
Pros: I bought or sold investments, I moved

Good idea to review return before filing

Overall, I like the product.
I really like the fact that it will allow me to download the tax info from the large brokerage houses and automatically fill in the tax forms for me. However, I highly suggest that one recheck all the downloads. In my case, only one of two Fidelity accounts downloaded into Turbo Tax and I ended up entering the information for the other one.
I also like the fact that it carries over my losses and passive investment losses from year to year.
I use it to do my state tax forms then go onto the state tax site to actually file the taxes. Since Turbo Tax provides the completed state forms, one can easily carry the numbers over to the state tax filing website and file taxes there.
I'm disappointed that paying for the extra state does not include electronically filing the taxes for that state also.
On rentals, there are a lot of questions before and after one actually puts in the numbers. It would be nice to actually have another check box at the appropriate time to skip all the extra questions if one has previously gone through and entered answers for the question.
What's great about it: easy to input 1099s from financial institutions; the Quicken input forms look like what I receive
What's not so great: Certain items make you go through the checkboxes yet again after you've completed them before

filing was some what easy. Additional charge for filing state taxes electronically has given me pause for using this method in the future.
What's great about it: clear in most cases prompting inputs
What's not so great: shocked when additional charge for filing state taxes electronically

I have been using Turbo Tax for over 20 years and have never had an issue. I deviated 1 year and tried Tax Cut; and ended up going back to Turbo Tax the following year. Very Easy to use and understand.
What's great about it: Very User Friendly
What's not so great: Nothing that I can think off
Pros: I bought or sold investments

IRA contributions and this review program
on April 27, 2016

The program keeps referring to IRA contribution eligibility. I am not eligibile for any type of IRA contribution. I and my spouse are both over 70 and do not work.
Nicknames are nicknames. They should not be required to be a certain length. If I am known as J I am known as J.
What's not so great: The IRA contribution and deduction program should be modified.
