Best out there, but one day will price themselves out of the market on non critical returns I think
What's great about it: Used for 16 years...longer? Better every year, especially handling business and stock items
What's not so great: expense of states, filing
Pros: I bought or sold investments

My taxes were much higher this year. I wish there was a way you could communicate tax law changes, which might explain changes I see in our taxes year to year.
What's great about it: Great directions to follow
What's not so great: Need overall info

I could not efile using TurboTax Premier
on April 21, 2016

I prepared a federal return and an NC state return. Preparing the returns went well, although as expected, completing the Form K1's was problematic. I wanted to file my federal return electronically and my state return by mail. I was unable to efile my federal return, despite repeated attempts to do so. So, in desperation on 4/13, I printed out the necessary forms and mailed them to the IRS. This was annoying and what made it worse was that there was no indication as to what the problem was. I got a message that with an update, the problem would resolve itself, but no updates were available.
I am not sure what would have happened if I had tried to efile my state return, and I did not try to efile my federal return when I was finally able to update TurboTax on 4/21.
What's not so great: I could not efile my Federal return

Savior for us procrastinators!

Overall - great software! Step by step response to questions makes it seem very easy. The automatic connection to W-2s and 1099-Divs worked really well and saves alot of time.
I've never been one for e-File but you've got me convinced; hopefully someday the State e-File will be free too. But I appreciate the ease by which the state are created effortlessly after the Federal is complete.
Possible new feature - Amending the federal return process assumes that the state has also been filed. If you have a question - Have you filed your state (yes or no) - "yes" would generate an amended state - but a "no" would just generate an updated state return based on the new numbers. Otherwise the State gets the two returns at the same time [its confusing, at least to me].
If you don't understand my recommendation - email me. But don't get my review wrong...Turbo Tax is economical and easy. It's Great!!!
What's great about it: I love the way you prefill the info from previous year - super time saver
What's not so great: I did not like being forced into a Schedule C - the 1099-MISC did not apply that way

Fairly easy to use but not as easy as prior years products; before you could click on a number and get an explanation.
Can't follow readily when a deduction is made to tax exempt interest. It doesn't show where deductions came from..
If you change a number directly on a form you run the risk of not computing correctly. Why is that? If the software allows me to do it, I should expect it to compute correctly.

Missed Premium Tax Cr
on April 22, 2016
Posted by: GwanTL
In my case I missed out on the Premium Tax Credit until I received a letter from IRS regarding Form 8962 and Form 1095-A. However, I was able to update my record on Turbo Tax and print out the requested form 8962. I will receive a better refund amount, but I have to wait another 6 to 8 weeks after they receive my response.
What's great about it: Over all Turbo Tax is excellent software I used for years
What's not so great: Need alerts on certain Tax credits
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
