Got 'Er Done

Some of the TurboTax questions about details of foreign investments and states in which dividends were resident were unclear and/or the data was not on the tax year summary statements from brokers
What's great about it: comprehensive detail
What's not so great: some unnecessary questions asked about states & countries

2015 Tax Prep

Have used Turbo Tax for many years. Tried other methods (other tax prep programs and accountants) but keep coming back to Turbo Tax. Pretty simple to use, get the same results at lower price.
How soon are we going to change to flat rate tax - so all this would be unnecessary???
What's great about it: Pretty straight forward - just answer the questions.
What's not so great: Sometimes finding the answers to those questions is difficult.

What's great about it: It gets the job done fast and accurately. It gives me great confidence that my return will be accurate.
What's not so great: Entering stock gains and losses is tedious and online import did not work with JP Morgan

Turbotax Rocks

I am surprised TurboTax hasn't put the CPA industry out of business. It is easy, intuitive and by doing your own taxes it helps you plan ahead for the next tax season
What's great about it: intuitive and great online forums
What's not so great: hard to correct blank forms that you started but have no entries

Excellent Overall, a Few Minor Glitches

Overall, excellent. A few minor glitches. The step through did seem to skip items a couple of times. The links to W-2 Forms, banks, and some investment companies do not exist. I could not get to the intuit store to purchase Audit Defense or e-file my state return. So I clicked the later button. Very thorough, which is good for deductions and investments. Oh yes, I used Premier. However, if you have a simple tax filing, recommend one of the less thorough and less expensive versions.
What's great about it: Very thorough
What's not so great: A couple times I caught the step through method skipping items.

Extra Costs are Crazy High

The software itself is fine, but the additional costs to add a state, and to E-File any/all States seems excessive.
What's great about it: Good Help, Flexible, Had all the Forms I needed
What's not so great: EXTRA $$$$$, Can be cumbersome and repetitive

What's great about it: Very thorough...cross checks very effective
What's not so great: Being repeatedly encouraged to try out for deductions for which you're not eligible when data is there to know that
