Two state filing

While I think I have a complicated tax situation with my wife partially owning farmland in one state with her siblings, renting partial, and living in another state the really only problems were finding the papers for the second mortgage to repair and replace the barns. It would have been better if at the beginning I was mad aware of what I needed so all the hunting would have been before I sat at the computer to complete the forms.
What's great about it: Very easy to answer queastions
What's not so great: I needed to find papers from two states during the completion.

Easy Turbo Tax

I have been using TurboTax for decades. This year was just as good, dependable and reliable as the last years have been. Especially good are the capabilities to go back and review when you have a question about how an item has been handled or reported. I especially like being able to download forms from my bank - the 1000-DIV and 1099-B quite large. Over the years I have grown to trust TurboTax and I do not think my trust has been misplaced!
What's great about it: Easy to use & accurate
What's not so great: Not any that I could think of...
Pros: I bought or sold investments

not as easy or good as 3-5 years ago.

The price seems to rise every year , regardless how much change in tax law. Far too much extraneous information in questions and trying to answer to many unusual or obscure tax situations. It also seems harder to move between sections to change or correct numbers or info points . I have used Turbo-tax since at least 2001 and have generally pleased . And my income has only changed when social security gives "cost of living " increase which is usually eaten by the increase in medicare payments. Please simplify rather than complicate "new and improved ", rarely is better . To increase and add unnecessarily to raise the price is no service at all. It is not an age issue due to severe medical issues I was retired a few years ago at age 38.Severe spinal problems, I still write and publish in the areas of economics, securities, and monetary policy.
What's great about it: still relatively simple fill-in the blanks
What's not so great: far to much extraneous asides , harder to move back and forth

Quick and easy filing - one override needed

My husband and I have some separate assets. When Turbo Tax imported my financial records, it assigned my husband's name to them. I had to view the individual forms to check the box for "Spouse".
Turbo Tax also insisted on producing a Schedule K for a personal business my husband had officially terminated several years ago. Nothing like reporting $0 income!
What's great about it: Quick, thorough
What's not so great: Imported financial data not imported under the correct person
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Does everything I need

I like that it follows my previous year's return, so I can see if I left anything out. My only complaint is when manually entering 1099-B information, the wizard could be more helpful: allow me to say 4/5/15 instead of 04/05/15. Automatically add the slashes if I gave 2 digits for MM/DD, and fill in the year for me. Come on, you know what year I sold the asset! Also, you already knew my checking account information from my federal payment, why not move that to my state refund info automatically? Still, a great product.
What's great about it: Easy to find everything
What's not so great: Manual 1099-B entry could be smarter

Congress & IRS make changes each year. With TurboTax history and experience, i can focus on changes each year, and NOT worry about navigating routine issues.
What's great about it: TT is reliable, predictable. Continuity year to year, BIG help.
What's not so great: navigation can be challenging sometimes
