It was easy, even when I was unsure they would have a button to click on.It explained the next steps.I was really hesitant but it answered all my questions and then even checked my answers.
What's great about it: Easy to use, just answer the questions,
What's not so great: none

Poor E-Filing Limitations
on April 18, 2016
Posted by: UUpset
I needed to be notified before the 5th filing that only 5 are allowed. I would not have-filed an EZ form. As it is, The form that I have to mail is a 2K refund. This is really upsetting.
What's great about it: 2014 I filed 6 electronically
What's not so great: 2015 only 5

Everything went fine with my return, except when it came to handling a mixture of individual and family HSAs and dealing with a mix of personal and employer contributions.
What's great about it: Consistent experience, better navigation
What's not so great: Needs a little help with HSAs
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I love Turbo Tax, it has allowed me the freedom to do my family's taxes with great ease. I feel so proud of myself that it was so easy to do, I felt like it guided me simply through the sections. I will always do my taxes with Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: So easy, love it, I can't believe I can do my family's taxes!!!
What's not so great: Nothing!!!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Good but could be better for expert users

Pros - very good at importing information from brokerages; good views between entries and forms
Cons - It would be nice to setup entry mode for the return (guided vs. self directed) for the return so you don't have to keep answering it. K-1 entry was too complicated. TT Help suggested breaking Blackstone (BX# return into two to separate foreign tax. UltraTax handles K-1s much more efficiently.
Notes: I have 5 brokerage accounts and somewhat complicated return. Help girlfriend #tax CPA# with filings on UltraTax. Day job is business management of accounting software at fortune 500 company #project management, user support, configuration, etc.)
What's great about it: Import capabilities, views available
What's not so great: Entry mode (guided vs. self), K-1 entry

Failed e-file
on April 18, 2016
Posted by: Cooltaxman
This is the second year in a row that my e-file failed. Turbotax should consider refunding the money that I paid for the ability to e-file. My big problem is that once you make an e-file and it fails then going the traditional route of mailing it in becomes tedious. For instance, I did not receive the checkoff list (for the traditional printout mailing) This is different because when you print out your return then you have to mail the W-2s and check in all together.
Turbotax is good for routine returns but as soon as you have a unique situation then it begins to fail and causes a lot of extra work and headaches for the preparer.
What's great about it: Easy to enter information
What's not so great: Second year in a row that my e-file failed
