product quality seems to be slipping

this year the software had problems updating forms: really, the form 1040 was not available on 17 APR?! more problematic was the section on rental income. early in the year we sold a property that we had previously rented for several years. working step-by-step thru the software, trying to interpret the q-and-a was torture. i am still not convinced that the tool got this right. anyway, it still beats doing it 'by hand', but intuit seemed to be putting less effort into its end of the process this year.
What's great about it: auto transfer of info fm prev returns
What's not so great: explanations in some sections are sketchy

Close to deadline and its still an unfinished

Its a waste of money if you needs schedule k, but other that that its a good product. But for me, it can't electronic file and I have to print and mail so its a broken product and will switch to H&R Block.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Premier doesn't function with Schedule K

Generally pretty good at getting things entered efficiently, with little wasted time.
What's great about it: Being led by the hand
What's not so great: Some investment & IRA entry requirements were unclear. Entry of some medical coverage data didn't work the first pass.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Taxes Done Easy

Just answered the questions that the software asked, connected to my financial institutions to download the required information and TurboTax did the rest. Couldn't have been any easier.
What's great about it: Done in less than 30 minutes.
What's not so great: State filling fees a bit steep.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I love Turbo Tax

I have used Turbo Tax for years and years. It is very easy to use. They will walk you through the the entire tax return ... which is great, yet sometimes frustrating when much doesn't apply to you. You can also explore sections on your own, which I now do since I have a good feel for what I need and what I can avoid. I actually do my federal and state tax returns in Turbo Tax, then file the Federal return for free thru Turbo Tax, and then go to my state tax website and file there for free (electronically also) using the info on my Turbo Tax state print out. Personally I think that filing the state return should be free too, given the price of the software! Still, I love Turbo Tax and I'm comfortable with it so I'm sticking with it. Definitely recommend for those who want to file their own returns.
What's great about it: Very easy to use!
What's not so great: filing for state should be FREE too!

Been using for years, this year the state did not calculate correctly a refund from the prior year

Almost all worked

Over all I like the product but I had trouble filing a K1 Partnership form . I Enter all of my information in but when the software reviewed my taxes I received the message
"Additional Info 1: Foreign Tax Code C Line 2 col 3 is listed but no foreign source income at individual level has been listed on the K-1 Additional Information worksheet line 1. Foreign Tax Code C Line 2 col 3"
I finely had to leave that section out of the form to make the software accept my taxes.
What's great about it: The walk through with the software was easy to follow
What's not so great: Had trouble with a K-1 Partnership form
