Overall, excellent product.
What's great about it: Asks excellent questions; downloads a lot of financial info
What's not so great: Input of charitable contributions is tedious
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Continued this year with confidence

I'm not sure which version I really need. I may get and pay for one that is beyond my needs.
I appreciate the 5 year reviews in an easy to see and understand format.
I'm uncertain what to do with the 1099-R forms that I have received in the mail when I e-file.
What's great about it: Basically, easy to follow
What's not so great: I'm always nervous at the start.

Turbotax Premier is easy and accurate
on April 17, 2016

Used TurboTax premier 2016 for filing our taxes, and separately for my parents taxes (all of their income is international). Easy to use and accurate. The forum is active and has lots of helpful answers.
The usage flow and explanations + examples for ESPP (W2 reporting + adjusted cost basis) could be better. I had to resort to search engine for gathering this data.
What's great about it: Easy to use even for complicated scenarios like lots of stocks & international taxes
What's not so great: ESPP flow had some usability issues and kinks
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax Support Team
on April 17, 2016
Posted by: CBRE
I was able to get a call back, so not placed on hold. The Team Representative stayed with me & worked through my concerns until we were both satisfied with the outcome. I did not have to delay my refund by filing an extension, thanks to the Turbo Tax Support Team.
What's great about it: Easy to work with
Pros: I bought or sold investments

No more tax anxieties

Endless checking and double checking. When problems occur the program gets you back to the problem, by telling you exactly how to get back to where the problem is. You can almost watch TV while doing your taxes, because you are never dealing with more than a tiny bite of the process, so there is no "train of thought" to deal with
What's great about it: Painless, few demands placed on the tax payer
What's not so great: Still a few issues I wasn't able to sort out

Toggling Forms and Step-by-Step
on April 17, 2016
Posted by: welchaz
I'd like to be able to be at one spot in, say, Step-by-Step, then toggle to Forms and land in the same spot. And then go back and end up where I came from rather than at the beginning of that section. But I certainly appreciate the automaticity and connections from year to year and federal to state.
What's great about it: Great to have two methods
What's not so great: Can't toggle back and forth to the same spot
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Quick and Easy
on April 17, 2016

I've used Turbo Tax for quite a few years now. It has always provided a cheaper solution than getting someone else to do it for you.
What's great about it: Easy to Understand
What's not so great: Liked the online version better than the stand alone
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Only Game in Town

Been doing my own taxes for decades. I just want to copy the data I get (once I find it all) into the right boxes on the forms in the program. The order I do this is determined by the order I can find the relevant stuff, not by someone else's preconceived notion of a good interview order.
Also I've got a number of limited partnerships, and the non-domestic production info I get sent is never in an order that bears any resemblance whatever to the input table that TT presents. Also, the descriptions bear only the vaguest resemblance to each other.
The product is overpriced for what I use, but the cheaper alternatives I've tried lack the ability to handle limited partnerships or make dangerous errors.
What's great about it: Has the features I need
What's not so great: "EasyStep" is a waste of time.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
