What's great about it: I love the step-through method to filling out the return. The state return is a breeze after doing the federal return.
What's not so great: In my stock sales, date sold doesn't allow "various" though some of my sales grouped different dates together.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

User for many years

I've used TT for many years. One year my college grandson went to a 'professional' who found that he owed almost $1,000. I redid his taxes with TT and found their error, getting him a refund of over $1,000. Since then, all my grandchildren want me to prepare their taxes. Unfortunately, TT will only allow me to file five returns, so this year I had to buy a second disk so I could do my own taxes!
What's great about it: TT has all the answers to my questions
What's not so great: Doesn't allow enough returns
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

TurboTax is Fantastic
on April 17, 2016

Everything went smoothly until I had to answer, if I had rented my home in 2015. When I answered NO, TurboTax did not ask any other questions about the rental property. When I got to the end of Fed and State, I realized that Taxes and Maintenance had not been entered. I called and spoke with a TurboTax professional, who told me to go back and re-enter Yes to the rent question. I was then able to enter income, tax, repairs etc. Thank you TurboTax for having someone available on Sunday.
What's great about it: I was able to get personal help from a real person
What's not so great: The section on Rental property

2015 1040 review

not even subtle push to efile very heavy handed.. TT has always been difficult to print when approaching end of return. Have made minor improvements but have a long way to go to reach "above average"
What's great about it: easy to flip between form & template
What's not so great: very tiresome, forced scrolling, I thought it would never end and get to countine button
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Great with renal property

Have used TurboTax for more than a decade with the complexity of rental property, foreign investments and stock options and grants. The interview process keeps everything flowing and assures it all is recorded and reported accurately. We'll see in the future about reporting the sale of a principal residence.
What's great about it: Love thatt the repeated stuff (including retal property) is retained from year to year.
What's not so great: The conplelity of the forms, process and arcane nature of foreign tax credit process
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax would not read last year's PDF file
on April 17, 2016

Turbo Tax would not read last years pdf file, software update did not kickoff automatically when first installed... I ultimately had to manually click through the options to get a software update. This year version also did not seem as intuitive as previous years software and I've been using Turbo Tax for at least 15 years.
What's great about it: Still a good product... previous years better
