first year of retirement.. getting pension and w/d from deferred comp. employer didn't put my contributions to pension plan on w-2. sent separate letter with note on it when i first retired. if turbo tax hadn't asked about contributions to pension plan and doubled checked, would have paid taxes on entire income. got a refund instead of paying
What's great about it: almost paid too much in taxes
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

A Little Disappointed

There were some things in TurboTax 2015 that did not work as well as they had in the past. Particularly in regards to RSU sales. My review was flagged for missing information, although all of the information was entered and displayed when I went back to look. I deleted the entry and re-entered and TurboTax accepted it. In the mean time, I had also checked the online FAQ and noticed that many users seemed to have the same problem that I did.
I also went through a page for home office expenses and was forced to enter an asset with no way to delete it.
Otherwise, I find doing my taxes with TurboTax to be as easy as having my accountant do them and at a fraction of the cost.
What's great about it: Still Turbo Tax
What's not so great: Buggier than last year
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Great at handling multiple states simultaneously

Been using since 1994. Have income in several states, and TurboTax handles it nicely, after buying extra states of course. Highly recommended.
A recent change I don't like is that TurboTax now saves changes immediately to the disk. That is helpful to avoid lost work in case of a crash, but it makes what-if calculations more difficult. You have to remember to undo every change, or work off a separate copy. I prefer having control of when it saves.

What's great about it: Easy to use, love the import of previous year feature

I have been using TurboTax for years and 2015 is the best version ever.
I would be lost at tax time without this software.
Sometimes a product really transcends just the price you pay.
TurboTax is one of those products as important to me as the entire Internet.

Good Overall

It was okay to work with. It needs some paper instructions to go with the software. A blank 1040 would be very helpful. Then you would know where you are in the form.
What's great about it: The software made doing the state return really easy,
What's not so great: trying to get my 1099-misc for Oil and Gas Royalties added. It was difficult.

TurboTax works for me

I've used TurboTax for many years now and appreciate its comprehensiveness. Only downside is that not all financial institutions make downloads of account information possible, so I have to manually input some information (i.e. 1099-DIV, 1099-B).
What's great about it: Generally easy to use.
What's not so great: Doesn't download from all financial institutions
Pros: I bought or sold investments
