Turbo Tax Rocks!
on April 17, 2016

Turbo Tax is a great product that is highly recommended for a large variety of returns! It's fast, easy, and user friendly. Super cool to be able to save throughout the program for those who can't dedicate the time needed to file all at once!
What's great about it: Simple, user friendly tutorials; Easy to use and save program even in mid-filing status!
What's not so great: A lot of marketing emails (though update mailing preferences to prevent these).

Complete and Accurate

As long as you have the right package, TurboTax will guide you to the right forms and the correct calculations that you need. It also identifies when you need to use the seldom-required forms such as the AMT and helps you through the process. Buyer beware! When you start using the product, you are not provided up front with the information that will tell you just how complex your taxes will be and how expensive the product will be. A few questions can identify the cost of this product to you such as the need for premier, the need for multiple state tax software, and the additional charges for e-filing federal and state returns.
What's great about it: Does all the tedious calculations for you
What's not so great: Requires you to buy expensive extensions late in the process
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Forms listed 529 funds and house sales as taxable income but not taxed on form 1040. This confusing appearance wasted several hours of preparation time and research. Should include statement why money is listed or how it is to be handled.
What's great about it: Questions usually clear and helpful; often mentioning new topics
Pros: I moved

What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Easy, Simple, Fast

I've used Turbo Tax for several years now and 2015 (tax year) was the best yet. If you have all your documentation handy it's about 15-30 min. work and you are filed.
What's great about it: saves info from year to year, analyzes your situation, drastically cuts down on time and effort
What's not so great: when something doesn't match it takes you to a shot of the actual tax form, NOT the Turbo Tax entry, which is confusing

This customer did not provide a text review.
What's great about it: It was very good.
What's not so great: It kept prompting to fill out a K-1 Backstone Group which I did not own in 2015. This was very annoying!!!
Pros: I bought or sold investments
