Turbo Tax is the Way To GO !

Having utilized TurboTax as both a business owner and now as
a retired senior I find the process superb in downloading forms from my various stockbrokers. One does not have to go thru the hundreds of stock sales, dividends, interest, tax free dividends individually etc. Just download the forms. If you have a question it is readily answered online. Strongly recommend its use by all who file their own taxes and if you have not in the past give it a try!!!!!!.

Overall good, but some issues

This program walks you right through the process and is handy. We were discouraged to have to upgrade (pay more) for Premier this year, but ..... For some reason it is double listing security sales on Attachment 12A, but the totals work out well, so who knows. We've almost always had a glitch with the Idaho State (non-resident) return and have to mail it using USPS, so we'll see what this year brings us.
What's great about it: After using for several years, we know it and not too much has changed
What's not so great: Double listing of capital gains and Idaho State return always seems to have problems

The software was easy to load, easy to use. I didn't run into any major problems, but several smaller annoyances. Worst was How to File an Extension. The form is short, the process is easy, but your software has no way to call up the form or address to mail, even though you have all the information you need to fill it in and print it.
Next worst was the data entry process. Taking me step by step in expert Wizard fashion is fine if I need it, but I ought to be able to jump into the process and break out if I want to. I don't need to see five screens over and over when I just need to enter one cell of data. Maybe an expert wizard and an average user wizard would be good.
Along the same line, I ought to be able to acknowledge and ignore errors on the return, at least temporarily. Don't keep taking me back to the same old thing if I don't want to correct it right now.
Last is how the Completed items menu gets longer and longer and you make users scroll past it all before they can go to the next section. You ought to have two lists, To-Do and Completed. That way I can take up things out of order, but I still have a good sense of how much work is left. This would be a good place to flag errors too, so I know what to go back to.

What's not so great: Scrolling through completed items was really cumbersome. You ought to have a way to switch between entry and review.

Taxes done!!

Very easy to use - I have multiple rental properties and I can still do my own taxes using Turbo Tax! I have been using it for years. Great product!
What's great about it: Easily pulls in prior years information that is needed. And keeps track of depreciation items.

TurboTax not turbo for 2015 taxes

We had to jump through hoops to get the taxes done this year. It used to be a good experience with TurboTax, but not this year.

What's not so great: Complicated
