If you make a mistake and then you go back (sale of your business was my case) and in reality it was the Llc, it was not correcting that mistake. Need to start a new one just to get rid of the mistake.
What's great about it: Workable
What's not so great: when you make a mistake and go back not always get corrected
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Glitch this year

First time I tried to use TurboTax this year there was something wrong with the software. It didn't load last years information for depreciation on my rental property. I finally had to start over with a new return. it cost me about 3 hours trying to figure it out until I gave up and just started over. I have no idea why it did this but I tried to get some help from TurboTax but couldn't find a number for support.......frustrating.
What's great about it: Very easy when it works
What's not so great: Very frustrating when it doesn't work

I am a retired accountant and prepared taxes during one tax season as an employee of a CPA. So I have a good understanding of tax law and I very adept with computers. It was a pleasure to use Turbo Tax this year.
Over the last ten years I have used CPA's because my tax situation was complex, including out of state income. But that is now history, so I am pleased to return to Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Allows me to go step by step through my tax documents (1099's, contributions, etc.) on my own.
What's not so great: During the review I was told I had to fill in line 38a, but I could not find it.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I've used Turbo Tax for 15 years or more. Always gets me through complex stuff and speeds me through the process.
What's great about it: Easy and fast entry and uploads most of the difficult stuff.
What's not so great: When finishing a section, TurboTax goes back to the beginning of the "chapter" instead of going to the next section.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Besides con i have stated above, I am really very happy with Turbo-tax.
What's great about it: almost every feature
What's not so great: Importing can be trouble-some sometimes, especially broker data
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Long Time User, love recalculate

Have used TurboTax for some 14 years. Generally works well. Do a return with 1099-MISC income. TurboTax automatically forces self-employment on 1099-MISC income resulting in self-employment tax assessed. This is simply wrong. Only alternative is to circumvent TurboTax. TurboTax should correct this problem that has been around for a long time. Numerous methods used to circumvent this problem are on the web site. Should not be necessary to do this.
What's great about it: Works well generally, love recalculate
What's not so great: Doesn't calculate 1099-MISC correctly
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I'll likely be making the move to a CPA next year. It's been great for years, but this year took way more research on my part to handle stock sales and additional income from rentals etc.
What's great about it: Easy, straightforward
What's not so great: struggles with more complex tax situatins
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments, I moved

K-1 does not transfer all data to all forms. Says to do multiple k-1 entries in different forms. Does not tell you how.
What's great about it: Basics fine
What's not so great: K! and errors a problem
