Love It!!

I was apprehensive about using this app because I had used another competitor's software a few years ago. My experience was NOTHING like my first experience. This app was so easy for me to use. I had to read most of the directions and definitions because I don't have a lot of tax prep knowledge. I'm so happy I decided to purchase Intuit TurboTax. I feel totally liberated!
What's great about it: User friendly; tips and definitions of terms easy to understand
What's not so great: Some of the optional questions are so personal...why
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

This program actually makes me look forward to next year; not paying taxes but to the ease of preparing them!
What's great about it: Thorough, easy walk through steps, work at your own pace.
What's not so great: You didn't do them for me! :-)

Very Thorough, Much Good Help, But Some Hidden

The product delivers first rate results and reports. It is "impossible" to miss entering pertinent data. My frustration this year was that TT filed IRA Distributions as Pensions. This had no effect on final tax, but the final values on the actual Form 1040 were listed in slightly different categories from the data entries. Researching the cause, and determining the consequences, took many hours, and required discovery of several TT helpful tools.
What's great about it: Very complete; provides means to research errors and inconsistencies.
What's not so great: The errors/inconsistencies research tools must be DISCOVERED; needs research tutorial.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Great overall experience

Almost everything was great with the following exception:
I was part owner of a home sharing with my son.
The proceeds from the sale was unequally split.
This situation means that I should only enter my relevant amounts, but there was no provision to explain this transaction to the IRS. I expect that sometime in the future that the IRS will be contacting me to explain. I would have preferred to explain this once. I could not find any pertinent advice in the available Turbo Tax forums.

Other than that, I was able to do my fairly complicated taxes using Turbo Tax Premier.
What's great about it: Mostly easy guidance and data entry
What's not so great: Area on complicated real estate transactions needs work.

Too hard to find Sale of Rental property

did not rent property in tax year but sold at end of tax year, In order to make selling rental property show up had to say I rented at least one day, which was not correct. Without doing this, listing sale of rental property could only be in selling business listed no where else in the return, This was wrong place and tax was too high. Turbo tax Premium did not do a good job on rental property, no income and sale in the tax year. Why did I pay for premium when basic could have done the same thing, poorly?
Also did not handle retiring during tax year well, either. Do not like giving too much info (TMI) in doing this review of Turbo Tax.
