Went well again this year. Federal very high quality, state (California) still confusing. Had to read several times to fully understand what was being asked
What's great about it: Logical and written in englist, not "taxeese"
What's not so great: California not at same level as federal

Great Product

I have used this product for years and it is awesome. It makes doing your taxes easy. I have used a CPA before and and the step by step questions are the same questions I was asked by a CPA. Taxes couldn't be easier.
What's great about it: Quick and easy to use.
What's not so great: Sometimes a little slow

Save time and avoid mistakes

I have used TurboTax for almost 30 years. It may be complicated the first time you run it - there's a lot to learn when doing your own taxes - but every year after that, TT knows you and makes your new return astonishingly easy.
You can always try something, back up, and try again if you didn't understand. There is lots in internal help and even more online. Experts can cut to the chase, and the rest of us can be gently interviewed.
Unless you have a huge income and a vastly complex and strategic deduction portfolio, this software does as good a job as a CPA for a fraction of the price.
What's great about it: User interface is flexible and reassuring
What's not so great: I wish my "tax owed" were updated more piecemeal

Good but more work needed on RSU and ESPP entries

Importing brokers forms seemed to offer a fast and accurate route to dealing with stock from RSU and ESPP stock sales. However, needed to break out multi element sales and this couldn't be done with the imported records - needed to delete imported entries and enter them manually - a little long winded but it worked well from there.
What's great about it: Got there in the end
What's not so great: Needed considerable care

Easy to use

I have used Turbo tax for several years. I find it easy to get through.
What's great about it: I was able to walk through each area of the taxes.
What's not so great: I didn't get a refund…..really not a problem

Customer product technical support

Had a software problem where updates and state forms wouldn't download. The product support specialist helped me receive the the files necessary to manually install the updates and state forms into TurboTax so I could finish my return on time. Thank You!!!
What's great about it: Excellent customer service!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
