I liked, and used the flags. Thanks for helping me get to things fast. I have used this program for at least ten years, and keep coming back as the upload from a previous return is a snap.

Good but need more space for stock trickle trades

Generally, I love TT. It's quick, easy and almost always is written in easy-to-understand language. I have used it for quite a few years, and plan to keep using it. There are a few exceptions to my good experience this year. For the second year in a row TT ran out of input lines for stock trades so I had to manually add them up and enter them as a group with ''Various'' for the purchase date--very time-consuming to do that. When I wanted to go back and make a change to a topic, TT repeated the entire loop for the topic so I had to look at every screen again--also time-consuming. Error check came up with some weird requests for corrections and in one case I couldn't make the change it was asking for except by going to Forms and overriding the value. But I still think it's a very good program. I have to add that I haven't compared it to any other tax software out there.
What's great about it: Easy, straightforward, fast, comprehensive, accurate
What's not so great: Ran out of input lines for stock trades, no exit to topic loops, error check weird

Easy to use even for for first time filers. Just follow the Q & A and you will be fine. :)
What's great about it: Always easy to use
What's not so great: Seemed a little hard to find some things but this was the first year filling as a widow,so my mind was already scrambled

super simple, super fast (with the proper documents on hands, import any information that is available through a login, and most of all the fact that if you used TurboTax the prior year, they will import all your information; this is critical with multiple advantages: 1)saves you tons of time re-entering information, 2)puts side by side comparison between last year and this year for reference, reminding you of items that you may have forgetting and alerting you if numbers do not look right (i.e. positive vs. negative, etc...), and 3) it will bring to your attention things like deffered deductions form the previous year, which means less money out of pocket or better yet: Larger Refund!
What's great about it: walk you through with explanation as to why and the impact; fairly quick if your docs are all ready;
What's not so great: None

Difficult this year

Not to be sarcastic but I'm old and slow so it took me several times through to get everything. That's why my "con" comment. I had to go back and forth. It would be nice to view several sections at the same time. Have a nice day.
What's great about it: Turbo covered everything well.
What's not so great: navigating from place to place was cumbersome. I have an old computer

Minor tweaks needed

TT is a great help at tax time! I think it's accurate and it covers all the topics I need. Except for a few changes that made me have to enter some things by hand, I would have given it 5 stars this year. The problems I faced were that this is not the 1st year TT has run out of lines to enter stock trades. I did a brokerage auto-download, but almost half my trickle stock trades were not there. I had to add them by hand and substitute some that were there with the conglomerated info. That took a long time! Error check came up with a few unexpected requests for changes, and some had to be made in the Forms method only. Sometimes I got additional info after I'd already finished the Step-by-step section for it. To make changes I had to go through the whole section again. I made several suggestions for changes to the TT team when I was working on my taxes.
What's great about it: Easy to go thru Step-by-Step 1st time, comprehensive, accurate
What's not so great: Ran out of stock trade entries, errors required Forms method

Good program!

TurboTax makes it possible to do my own taxes. One of my favorite features is the ability to download many W2s and 1099s and get the correct numbers in the right fields on the right forms. Electronic filing is nice too. TTax has several ways of navigating - EasyStep which guides you through or you can choose to go where you want or you can go directly to the IRS forms.
I would really like Intuit to create a version that does taxes for trusts (form 1041 and supporting forms) that runs on a Macintosh computer.
What's great about it: Makes a difficult and irksome task easier.
What's not so great: I hate doing taxes.
