I've been using TurboTax for several years, and every year I see more, and more improvements, the live community help, is fantastic. Way to go TurboTax!
What's great about it: Turbotax will promt you to accurately answer your tax questions.
What's not so great: Does not tell you that you'll be charge extra to E-file your State Return.

The software didn't alert me about a tax penalty (1040- line 79) and additional Medicare Tax until I saw it for myself while reviewing the final return.
What's not so great: I wasn't informed about certain details (see below).

Have used Turbo Tax for the last 7 to 10 years. Have always felt that the step by step process was extremely helpful and as simple as our current tax rules and codes would allow.
What's great about it: Easy step by step process. Easy to access additional help info when needed.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Often confused

I would like better explanations about why tax information changes year-to-year. There are new questions that surprise and confuse me each year. For example, this year it asked me about claims for energy efficient window installations in past years. There has never been that option before. I had to go back and dig up all my old receipts on home projects. Were energy efficient windows added as a new credit for the first time this year? No explanation!
What's great about it: The questions lead me through and I do eventually get to a completed tax form.
What's not so great: Each year there are new questions that were not present in preceding years.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

After trying for a few days to efile, it came to our attention you can't do it on a Mac, even though it was advertised to do so. Disappointing.
What's great about it: Turbo tax does a lot of the work for you. Very helpful.
What's not so great: Additional cost for efiling in our state.
Pros: I moved

Mor info needed

I have to pay file state? Wasn't expecting more charges... and yea.. I completed at the last moment.. but still... lame. Also... I owed again. I want to know why I owe this year and what I can do to mitigate for next year... I understand why, but it would be MUCH nicer if the application would explain why and what I need to do for next year.
What's great about it: Easily flip between actual documents and wizard
What's not so great: Does not explain why I owe more and how I can fix that for next year
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
