Long-time user - will continue to be

I've used TurboTax since the 1990s when it was far more complicated to manage the software than to figure out the taxes. Now the product has come a long way and has simplified the many complex tax situations we face as a couple nearing retirement. The product successfully handles 1031 real estate exchanges, business income as well as myriad deductions. Until the tax code is simplified (yeah, right!) this is the product to count on.
What's great about it: automatic importation of documents saves time and improves accuracy
What's not so great: some interview topics seem to be endless loops
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

YOu fill out easy to deal with forms, but you don't always understand the consequences. And some of the questions aren't as clearcut as they might seem. . An incorrect response can have big consequences. Why wasn't I asked this year how I wished to File. It went through as single .... but maybe I should have chosen Head of Household .... would the results have been different? Impossible to tell .......and I wasn't given an opportunity to amend very much of my personal start-up info from last year. At the end the program even had an incorrect address for me that went back more than 5 years! How is this possible?
What's great about it: pretty easy to deal with
What's not so great: sometimes confusing

TT is OK

I could not do my taxes myself without Turbo Tax. I have used Turbo Tax since 1986. I also use Quicken for the same timeframe.
What's great about it: Gets my taxes done
What's not so great: takes a long time

2nd year in a row I have tried to file my return and it is rejected. I follow Turbo Tax's direction specifically
and even go to the IRS to try to get a pin. I then go back to turbo tax and try the AGI provided by Turbo Tax, load in 0 per Turbo Tax but still no success.
I am very frustrated.

Could be easier

All in all, I've used Turbo Tax for several years and would not consider any other system. With a modicum of knowledge and horse sense, a long form return can be finished and filed in about 8 hours.
Comments about details below...the mortgage company owns my home although our name is on the title...our "kids" are all in AARP so we don't have "kids" at this time...neither of us have been students for more than 40 years...relationships and family life needs RETIRED as a status...I'm sorry you don't like my 3 letter nickname but it's been 3 letters for 81 years.
What's great about it: Entering data using instruction is quick and easy
What's not so great: Some data entry required more than usual time...e.g.Florida car purchase sales tax took me 4 visits and then 2 correcti

Perfect for Expats

I've been using TT for 10 years and living/working internationally for 8 years. It's great for expats because you get the forms and the formulas without having to ship things off to a US based accountant. As my taxes have gotten more complicated with foreign tax credits and various asset sales, TT has performed very well. Highly recommend to all my US colleagues working globally.
What's great about it: File from around the world without needing a U.S. based accoutant
What's not so great: Sale of assets section is tricky

Bring the Help screens back!!!

Overall, excellent program. I have used it for 20 years. This 2015 Premier edition lacks the Help screens that previous years have, that were easily accessible.
What's great about it: Ease of use of program.
What's not so great: Lacking the help screens for each page or the fields on each page.
