Costly

There are few alternatives to making tax preparation reasonably easy. But the cost of purchasing TurboTax too high. And, the additional cost to efile state just adds to the insult.
I'd gladly pay for the help in tax preparation, but filing with TurboTax is simply too expensive.
What's great about it: helps interpret tax laws for every day person
What's not so great: Excessively expensive

Grateful to use Turbotax

When preparing Form 8949 Part I Check Boxes A, B, and C the tax preparer is instructed in the “Specific Instructions” section on pages 2 and 3 of Federal Form 8949 Instructions to use a separate page for each Check Box. When preparing Form 8949 Part II Check Boxes D, E, and F the tax preparer is instructed to use a separate page for each Check Box. For data entry in Part II I used a separate page for Check Box D, but I was unable to start a new page for Check Box E. So, I entered the data for Check Box E on the same page for data entered for Check Box D. Then I had to change a No to a Yes to get around the error entry for data in Check Boxes D and E being entered on the same page. This cleared a claim for the error entry that came up during the tax report review. I ask you to incorporate the Federal Form 8949 Instructions in a change to your software for 2016 taxes.

Cannot correct incorrect form and the cost is big

I have used turbo tax for easily 12 years and this is the first year that I may go to a tax preparer to fix turbo tax's problem. I have read the instructions for Form 8962 and there are additional calculations that should be carried out and turbo tax does not do them. Furthermore, I can see the proper form, but I can't open it up to enter the missing data, and then carry out the calculations. And for me this year, that failure will cost me two thousand dollars. I am not happy.
What's not so great: VERY unhappy with turbotax this year.

Worst Turbo Tax Experience Ever

Used Turbo Tax for more than a decade, this will likely be my last. Basic functionality not working. Help hours posted in program are wrong. Worst experience with this software.
What's not so great: Could not efile my state return, button missing to purchase.

NJ State DI was flagged as error upon final transmission of returns and never during any of the reviews. Not Good

Fantastic

Turbo Tax made it so easy to follow, wished I had used it before. I know circumstances can change from year to year, but I am getting the best return I can ever remember, and I have paid professionals a lot of $ over the years to do my taxes. You have to gather up all the info, add it all up and make it legible for a CPA, then be out a lot of cash for them to do what Turbo Tax does for you, for a lot less money. I recommend this product.
What's great about it: Gave me confidence in doing my taxes. Always paid professionals before now.

I have used Turbo Tax every year since 1984. It has been so easy to use because it creates the filled out forms and knows the calculations without my having to. If you use the guided method of input it is like having a tax accountant beside you. I have graduated to the premium version because I have a rental property. All I have to do is keep track of my expenses and rent receipts (mostly in Bank Statements) and input the information totals into Turbo tax.
