I'm able to work on my taxes in bits over a while. Turbotax helps me make sense of it all on my own time.
thanks again.

Keep Supporting XP
on April 14, 2016

The program would eventually hang up for a while every now and then and any time I went to the Turbo Tax website, my Firefox browser would also get stuck with an script that would stop working. Otherwise the product was very easy to follow. I am not sure if the Health Care form is correct since it filled in all 12 months individually rather than just check the one covered for 12 months box, but it's the same answer, I supposed. Frustrated that Turbo Tax is no longer supporting Windows XP as there are still many users out there who are still on this system and cannot upgrade without replacing their computers.
What's great about it: Easy to follow
What's not so great: Would hang up a lot

Poor Performance in 2015

I've been a consistent TurboTax filer since 2003 via CD purchases. This year, no prior year's information transferred into the 2015 program, requiring me to reconstruct my data as if using TurboTax for the first time. Where's the benefit in doing that? Given this, it is certainly not worth the cost.
What's not so great: None of my prior years' information transferred into this year's program

Solid as always

I've used TTax since it first came out. Over the years my income and tax complexity have grown and TTax has handled it all with ease. I do feel some areas like AMT need more of an explanation - I feel I'm in "trust mode" and I'd rather be in "understand mode." Just knowing exactly what put me into the targeted middle class so that I can avoid it in the future would be a plus. I'll continue to use TTax in the future, I like it and I trust it, but I'll probably take my CPA friend out for drinks to get a better handle on AMT!
What's great about it: Easy to navigate, easy to get to forms and easy to see the IRS docs
What's not so great: AMT needs more detail. In a few other areas, numbers from last year's TTax could carry over but don't.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

conservatively wrong

My actual 2014 federal and state refunds were more than the amount submitted by TurboTax. Apparently, the IRS and State knew a few more tricks than TurboTax.
What's great about it: detailed and thorough
What's not so great: refund was wrong

I like Turbo tax and have used it for years, but this version seems to have dropped out some features. To go back and edit a section, you pretty much have to go through all the questions all over again.
It was difficult to see where you were in the process - In previous years there was a side bar that tracked a more detailed list. This version just have VERY general categories across the top.
This version also seemed to ask alot of the same questions over and over. If there was a question Did you live in New York City or Yonkers, and I answered 'NO' I shouldn't have been asked about it again.
What's great about it: Good explanation of line items
What's not so great: Time consuming to go back to a section and edit or fill in missing information.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

I was very pleased that my w-2 from my employer was imported into my return this year! Also, my K-1 form seemed to have been simplified. That you for the improvements!
What's great about it: it didn't seem to take as long to fill out the forms as previous years.
What's not so great: my main dislike is even having to pay taxes in the first place.

correcting errors
on April 14, 2016

Correcting errors throws you right into the forms where you have to figure it out for yourself.
There simply wasn't enough help in correcting errors and that took me a long frustrating time.
What's great about it: you've always run a good review
What's not so great: Correcting errors does not have enough help.
