The Intern's review of TTax 2015 Premier

Re the "cons" above. I might have overlooked something, but in the step by step section, TTax step by step did not provide an option for reporting non-covered securities from 1099-B's. I had several of these, with no date acquired and/or no cost basis. Since TTax didn't guide me through this situation, I had to jury-rig those entries to make TTax happy.
What's great about it: I have used TTax for years and I rely on the step-by-step.
What's not so great: TTax step by step didn't accommodate non-covered securities.

Turbo Tax is an easy tool to use. The ability to transfer data from previous returns is great. Also, the ability of import data from Financial Institution is great too.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Areas of IRAs are somehow difficult to use

My two cents

I have used TurboTax for many years and it is getting easier to use each year.
Last year Schedule D was removed from the version I normally use and I had to upgrade online. Much the same thing happened this year. The retail packaging does not list the Schedules included in each version and I bought the version I thought I needed, but when I went to enter my investment data, I had to upgrade. I paid significantly more each year to upgrade than if I had bought the version I really needed.
Fees to e-file the state return are high.
What's great about it: fairly simple and straight forward to use
What's not so great: almost impossible to find out where some of the numbers on the return came from

My only gripe is " free state return" then have to pay a fee to file the state return on line
What's great about it: does walk you throught entire job
What's not so great: taxes get more conplex every year

first TurboTax standard did stock transactions, then you needed deluxe, now you need premier...what will it be next? Small business just to do a few stock transactions?
What's great about it: very easy to work with
What's not so great: makes you buy premier just to do a couple of stock transactions

Led me through thoroughly

First time using Premier. It was somewhat challening, but I was able to figure things out by going slow and following Tips added on pages being reviewed.
What's great about it: Detail
What's not so great: Had to think through some of the details
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Overall, I am satisfied with the product and will continue to use it for future returns.
What's great about it: Numbers flow through with minimal or no dual entry required
What's not so great: Personal data didn't feed from last year's return.

Best software out there

I have been using TurboTax for 15+ years. I switched from another software because it is easier to use.
