Easy to use!

I would rate outstanding for the ease of use. Only issue I noted was that even though I marked all had insurance all year it did not mark that on the health insurance worksheet page. I have used Turbo Tax for years and plan on using it in the coming years.
What's great about it: Guided input of information is great!
What's not so great: N/A

Not So Easy!

This was the fourth year I used Turbo-Tax and it was the most difficult. I am not advanced in my computer skills but have had no problems in the past. I moved in 2015 and I had difficulty getting the program to accept my new address.
What's great about it: I like the step by step format.
What's not so great: Some problems with the e-file portion for state return.
Pros: I moved

Problems this year
on April 14, 2016
Posted by: JammerAlways
Stock transactions were imported from Schwab and there was a problem with it. Ok, but the manual changes I made kept disappearing. That is Turbo Tax problems. I spent WAY too much time to get this right. Plus, I had a 1099 misc that should NOT have generated a Sch C, but the program kept doing it along with the resulting Sch SE tax. So wrong. I have used Turbo Tax for YEARS and usually I am thrilled. This year? Just frustrated!
What's great about it: import financial institutions, accurate math
What's not so great: errors! wouldn't keep changes I made, 1099 Misc handled wrong
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Better Than Last Year but Still Needs Improvements
on April 14, 2016

Would like to be able to see the Schedule A and the Form 1116 throughout the process. I like to see a running summary of info to see if we entered all necessary data. We apparently did not need either forms, but I still would like to see a running summary of the info on them. When entering data, we would like to see a summary sheet when we select to look at each of so many choices to enter data for both income and expense choices. We enter info in many cases and we don't see where the info is entered - on which forms, even. When expenses are entered and there is no change in the tax amount, we wondered why it didn't change. If we saw the schedule A, we could probably understand better why that would be.
What's great about it: Entering K-1 Info was a little easier
What's not so great: No Schedule A available. No Form 1116
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Continue to Support XP
on April 14, 2016

Mi biggest complaint and anxioty came at the end of the program's process when I found out XP will not be suupported next year. My computer cannot be upgraded to newer Windows versions and I have no other reasons to buy a new computer. Replcing my computerr and all of the software I use on it wwill cost me more than a few thousand dollars. I will not use the free online version because the security of my information cannot be guaranteed. Just ask the people burned by TT last year. I refuse to E-file too. I need to know, ASAP, what files I would need to transfer, and the directory information for them, in order to import this year's tax info (2015) next year if I buy another computer.
What's great about it: Does what I expect it to,, as it has for sevedral years.
What's not so great: Finding out XP will not be suupported next year.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Can tax software afford to have "bugs"?
on April 14, 2016

I ran into an annoying bug on my MacBook Pro when entering my investments. Every time I needed to add a new line, the software popped me back up to the top of the form, in the first box of the first line. I had to scroll back down to the bottom of the form, and the first line EVERY TIME. Most annoying. And there is a limitation on the number of lines that can be entered at one time. The software also pointed out a couple of errors that had no explanation, and no instruction on how to fix. I quit in frustration, and when I came back later, the errors didn't show up again. So who knows what that was about? It doesn't inspire confidence in the software.
What's great about it: Saves time with electronic calculations
What's not so great: You have to trust the software
