Good Enough

Walked me thru everything without problems
But it would be great if one could edit a particular section without having to go back thru ever section up to the point the error was noticed then forward thru every section to the point tha the error was noticed. Not a big problem
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: None - so far
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Insufficient, Forced me to file by mail
on April 14, 2016
Posted by: Scootamundo
After over 18 years, Turbotax has lost my business. Turbotax Premier 2015 caused me multiple headaches and eventually caused me to have to file my returns by mail, instead of my preferred method of e-filing. 1. Form 8949 Worksheet Boxes A and B: Turbotax has an arbitrary limit of 24 transactions--wholly insufficient for someone with hundreds of stock and option trades to report. 2. Before filing, Turbotax Premier kept giving me a loop where I was directed to correct some amounts, but the software does not provide a pathway to find where the error supposedly exists. 3. As a result of the inescapable loop of phantom "errors," which Turbotax Premier DOES NOT allow on to correct, Turbotax Premier would not complete my e-filing. 4. As a result of the above, I was forced to send my returns in by mail. Needless to say, I'll find a different provider than Turbotax for future years.
What's great about it: Fills most forms out for you
What's not so great: Full of phantom errors, crippling space limits and glitches

Love Turbo Tax

Our family is committed to Turbo Tax. After years of very plain and ordinary returns (two salaries, easy deductions), we have now completed two years' worth with learning curves. Last tax year we sold our house and this most recent tax year we started a very small business. In both instances we anticipated that Turbo Tax would "help" me through the process -- and we were not disappointed. Cannot understand why my sister-in-law continues to hire an accountant to prepare their tax returns. Turbo Tax is so easy and much more affordable. Plus, we are confident the program is up-to-date with the changes in the tax code. Thanks for taking care of us.
What's great about it: easy to follow instructions. covered everything. easy to find specific areas/topics about which I wanted more info
What's not so great: none

Depreciation
on April 14, 2016
Posted by: RustySundevil
This year, TurboTax did not go back and pick up my prior years basis and depreciation amounts on rental property. I looked and looked for a place to ask it to do this, but there was nothing there. That was very disappointing, because I'll probably have to file an amended return!
What's not so great: Pick up of prior year info

When I filed my state return Turbo Tax indicated I didn't need to file DP-10 but also mentioned their could be some instances when I was required to file. This left me to doing the research myself. If Turbo Tax could determine if certain things are taxable in New Hampshire (annuities for instance) it would have saved me the research. I also had thought that Turbo Tax Premier offered 1 free state e-file, but either that wasn't the case or it changed this year and wasn't clearly announced.
What's great about it: Tracking information year after year
What's not so great: State return lacked clarity
