Over all I love TurboTax. I have been using the Premium version for several years now. It meets our needs very well. Thanks to the folks at Intuit for making and continuing such a GREAT product!!
What's great about it: always easy to use
What's not so great: Some of the 1099-R &1099-MISC questions are a little hard to follow
Pros: I bought or sold investments

2015 Turbo tax review
on April 13, 2016

Bug 1: When inputting 529 college fund info the program assumed it was taxable (wrong) which would have cost me thousands. I had to dig into an obscure community input on how to adjust TurboTax to allow for the correct tax treatment
Bug 2: Could not efile because the program said the zip code for Purdue univ was wrong. I triple checked it and it was correct. I tried zip codes from the surrounding area. . nothing worked. I have to file by mail.
What's great about it: Takes the very complex and makes it tolerable
What's not so great: Two Bugs

I have used Turbo Tax since it was first offered but it is expensive and there are other alternatives. It is easy to use but it feels like I am being gouged.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: Expensive

2015 Return
on April 13, 2016

For whatever reason I had several problem this year that I haven't had in previous years (using turbo Tax since 2001).
First, I finished my returns in early March. Later, when I went to file my returns, the data was gone. Had a heart attack. Call my computer geek, he was able to get the data back. He couldn't tell me what happened or able to explain it.
Second, before I filed, I received a notice to load updates. I was reluctant to update because of my previous experience, but I did it anyway. The update didn't update due to Microsoft installer error 2502. I was irritated, but cancelled the up date.
I went to e-filed my return, when I received the message can't e-file until I do updates. I was fit to be tied and swore never to use Turbo Tax again.
I tried to do the updates again; this time it took and I was able to e-file.
Don't know why I had so many hair pulling problem this year. Maybe because it was using Windows 10 and your system isn't ready for it yet.
What's great about it: Doing the calculations and loaded data from previous year return
What's not so great: Updates didn't work and couldn't e-file without updates

You do your taxes faster and with much more confidence than you could do them on our own. The regs change every year - leave it to the professionals to help you. I've used TTax for many years and it's always the best choice! and least arguing with your spouse, too, so WHAT's NOT TO LIKE?!!!
What's great about it: good help functions, step by step is way to go, faster than you could do it on your own
What's not so great: price

Usually Great, Not Quite This Year
on April 13, 2016

Overall not bad but this year for some reason, the program would only import some but not all info from my 2014 return. Had the program imported all info, I could have saved a good bit of time. It was frustrating to look up required info on my paper copy of 2014 that was done in TurboTax. Some info such as name, address, etc. transferred fine. Other info did not.
What's great about it: Familiar and Intuitive, ItsDeductible also Very Helpful
What's not so great: Stocks - Needs a Help for Dummies Help Section
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
