TurboTax simplifies my tax filing process and makes a complicated filing easy and expedient. TurboTax allows me to complete my filing without having to rely or depend on tax accountants or tax services with added costs, every year.
What's great about it: User friendly process, simplification of tax requirements for filing purpose, help menus and audit flag indications
What's not so great: Prices seem to keep increasing for Turbotax, year/year

Four Done in Record Time

This is my 30th year using Turbo Tax. I love this program, even though they made me move to Premium edition.
The interview process is great, even though I don't really need it.
The program reminds me of things I need to add.
Having a little more selection in the printouts would be great (I really do not need the estimated tax payment sheets).
Tax season is great with Turbo Tax
What's great about it: The ease of the entry and finding where to place the right info
What's not so great: I do not need the estimated tax payment sheets

This aspect of preparing the return is not ans user-friendly as other entries. It is very difficult to know you're in the right place to report Farm Rental income as opposed to regular Farm Income and/or other types of rental income. Process was murky at best.
What's great about it: Quick
What's not so great: Farm Rental Income reporting remains problematic

As usual TurboTax makes filing your taxes simple. No appointments, no hassles. No need to haul documents all over town and provide them to a stranger looking a a computer screen probably using "TURBOTAX". There was only one item that did not work. The automatic update did not work initially. Called technical support and very friendly tecnician help solve the problem and the program worked as advertised. Again thank you. We've have use Turbo Tax for the last 6 yrs

What's not so great: Did not update automatically

Schedule K-1 difficulty

I struggled to understand why Sch. K-1 (form 1065) in Part III Line 11 (E cancellation of debt) is treated as positive income while a loss on Line 11(C Sec 1256 contracts & stradles) is not subtracted. The software doesn't provide details on the tax law as to why I as limited partner must treat cancellation of debt for a MLP that I own as a gain while losses on stock contracts and saddles are not treated as losses for my gross income calculation. There doesn't seem to be detailed information for complex tax treatments which makes me wonder if TurboTax just isn't sophisticated enough to provide a taxpayer with the tools to understand the law and now makes me considering hiring a CPA to prepare my taxes. I wish that there were more support services at TurboTax to easily contact to answer my tax questions.
What's great about it: Fast and self directed
What's not so great: No detailed information as to the tax law behind what Turbo Tax does..No way to know if what is being done is correct.

Piece of cake

this makes it so easy year after year. I can sit down and the program imports all the general information from last year that I don't have to re-fill all the names, addresses, employers, numbers. Piece of cake.
What's great about it: Like the step by step process that outlines the process all the way
What's not so great: can't think of anything I didn't like.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
