Railroad Retirement did not calculate properly in 2013 and I didn't see any changes in the 2014/2015 software. I had to resubmit to IRS last year for 2013. I had to enter as an IRA distribution to get TT to calculate RR properly. This really needs to get fixed.
What's great about it: easy to follow; like that data rolls over from previous year and to state
What's not so great: Had issues with IRS in 2015 on how TT calculates RR in 2013 software

Good software for return

Over-all the software seemed as easy as previous years, but editing one section of income (1099-DIV) was a problem. When I clicked on "Edit" I got a blank form rather than the previous year's form to edit. After opening the program, trying to edit, then closing it, on the 3rd try the program, as if by magic, worked as it always had before! Other than that quirk, I was pleased with the program.
What's great about it: Quite easy to use
What's not so great: Seemed quirky in one section of income
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Overall good experience

Overall TurboTax was very helpful in preparing my tax returns. My employer did some things that made things a bit less straightforward than ideal, but between the software and the phone support was able to get everything in order and submitted. I could have probably had someone else prepare my return for about the same amount of money once you factor in the cost of the software and e-file fee, but I would still have to gather a lot of information for them and would have less perspective on what's going on.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Software didn't answer all my ?'s, but phone support helped
Pros: I had a baby, I moved

Keeps Me in Control

1. Keeps me in control of my return
2. Allows me to see what forms are required to be filled out
3. Allows me to see what deductions are allowed and what income is required to be reported.
4. Helps me keep tabs on our government via the taxes they demand I pay.
5. Allows me to print out an organized copy of my total tax return when done to keep in my records for years to come.
6. Fast transfer of data from previous years return into current year.

My husband and I have used these programs for many years. I like it less and less each year. It asks less significant questions, thereby taking the preparer back into the forms, which are very confusing. I don't like the references to online information. The cost of the program should contain more help to get the forms done correctly and quickly.
What's great about it: Lower cost than hiring tax preparer. Transfer of data from last year.With interview, little need to get into forms.
What's not so great: Corrections do get into forms. It then loses the preparer thoroughly. Much less complete than previous editions.

Easy Tax Form Presentation

Having used Turbo Tax for several years, it is well worth the price by doing all the calculations and transferring data within the return and also from prior year.
What's great about it: System is very easy to use and appears to be quite thorough with questions that are asked.
What's not so great: The review process could be made a little more efficient by not having to re-enter select data during the review.

What a nightmare

I really wish you would be of more help on the K-1 forms. I was flying blind through most of the process. I will be selling this business so I don't have to go through this again.
What's great about it: income and dividends were a breeze
What's not so great: K-1 forms were so confusing.
