i HAVE BEEN FILING MY OW TAXES FOR YEARS BUT DECIDED TO TRY TURBO TAX FOR A CHANGE BECAUSE OF A LIMITED TIME WINDOW (OTHER COMMITMENTS). i GOT SCREWED UP, PAID FOR CT STATE FORMS I DON'T NEED AS CT HAS AN EXCELLENT ON LINE SYSTEM OF THEIR OWN AND SOME QUESTIONS WERE OBSCURE. I AM FILING BY MAIL!!!
What's great about it: mindless fill in
What's not so great: didn't allow foreign tax credit, need line by line explanation of entries

I have 13 years of TurboTax returns on a flash drive. Before that I had returns on diskettes. This is first year that TurboTax did not pull 1099R and donation data from prior returns on my flash drive. I have ben retired for 23 years. My 1099's and donations don't change that much. I don't get my financial data from the online places that you propose. Makes the process a lot longer. I am considering looking into a different package next year!
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Cannot retrieve prior 1099's and contributions 2014 return.

Mixed feelings this year

See above. Also, the fix it areas were not easy to work with because the descriptions of what was needed to not go to a specific place that I could find. I was also not able to delete no longer need K-1 info from prior years.
What's great about it: For the most part, it is intuitive and flows easily. Downloading brokerage 1099s saves a lot of time.
What's not so great: Healthcare took two days because processing came up for hours. Fortunately "help" got be beyond this problem.

There was an error made on my state return. Turbo did not use the correct income for state tax purposes. I caught the error and filed my state return the old fashioned way.
What's great about it: storage with ability to start where left off and help hints along the way
What's not so great: some difficulty entering information in correct places

Life Saver

I have used Turbo Tax to file my return and the returns for various family members for several years now. The way personal information is stored to be prefilled on future returns save me a lot of time and effort. I am a busy person, as we all are these days, and it is a great comfort to have Turbo Tax keeping up with all the laws and regulations for me so that I can fell confident in filing my returns without having to do all the research myself. Also, the cost of the Turbo Tax software is much cheaper than hiring a professional to prepare my returns for me.
What's great about it: Makes filing my returns as painless as possible
