Easy to fill out, easy to file
on April 11, 2016

I just filed my taxes, it was super easy. TurboTax walked me through it step by step. It was a little more detailed than I needed this year, but over time I think I will take advantage of more of the options. It was a great way for me to learn how to do my taxes. I liked how you can click on things and get more information about a topic. It was also helpful to have the direct link to the IRS website in order to obtain the PIN needed to e - file.
What's great about it: It was quick
What's not so great: There may have been a little too much information
Pros: I moved

Makes Taxes Easier

When doing review, when a fix is needed it would be helpful if a direct link to the appropriate part of the return was provided, with an automatic return to the review once fix is implemented.
What's great about it: Step by Step walk through
What's not so great: weak help when reviewing

Easy Peasy!

Had NEVER completed taxes on my own in my life (I'm 58), but Turbo Tax definitely lived up to it's billing as an easy to use software application.
What's great about it: Step by step guidance
What's not so great: Never sure info was being saved if I was interrupted and had to stop and go back later.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Overall, I loved it. But there were a lot of things in my state return where TurboTax said something like, "There's an error in your form 27b/6. Who was the owner?" Without context, I have no way of knowing how to answer the question. Error messages like that really need to link to the form in question or provide a conversational explanation of how I can answer it. Every single item in the Federal return had an explanation that was soothing and clear and felt like it had been by the crowd control psychologists that helped design Disney World. The state return was a frightful and terrifying place where error messages seemed designed to provoke the maximum panic.
"Capital Loss Carryovers" is the only item on the Federal return that needs work. Last year it clearly didn't apply. This year I thought the same. But when I read the explanation, I realized I didn't actually know. It kind of sounded like maybe there might have been some capital losses last year that might be carried over. But this is the kind of thing that I expect TurboTax to calculate for me. Maybe not the first year, since it doesn't have the history. But I've been using TurboTax year over year for a while now. It should have many years of my tax history. This is exactly the sort of thing I pay TurboTax to figure out for me, because the Federal rules are so confusing. I would greatly appreciate it if TurboTax would calculate this for me, especially since I shelled out the cash for the Premier version.
What's great about it: Easy to use for most stuff
What's not so great: Confusing on states and "capital loss carryovers"

I've been using TurboTax for at least 15 years and never had any issues. They always go above and beyond to cover everything and leave you with all your questions answered. Thanks TurboTax!
What's great about it: Everything...They cover everything.
What's not so great: I guess not buying Turbo Tax would be a con...
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

What's great about it: Loaded information from last year.
What's not so great: Add several forms i didn't need. I had to go online to find out how to delete them.
