Great explanation of the Tax Code

I have used Turbo Tax for over a decade. The only real criticism is that the performance is so slow. Once I download my broker information there is a lot of point click and wait. The PA state return takes forever as I have to declare ownership for each asset transaction. This does not work well in the interview format. It needs to more easily accessed than the hundreds of interview questions that need to be repeated.
What's great about it: Helped with a relatively complex return.
What's not so great: Software performance was slow due to large number of investment transactions. There has to be a way to improve latency.

This program asks for you name information repeatedly. Why can't you import some of this data. In the early stages you could speed things up by letting the person add some more data. You also never ask on a mailed return at least, how you want to receive your refund. If you are worried about security simple do not place XXXs in the routing and account number sections. Portions at the final stages do not have a back function or no thanks for the advertisement. During review stages you have an edit function; it does not work! I expected more! Charlie
What's great about it: It figures out the math and asks most of the right questions
What's not so great: Very slow and leaves out important inputs.

Estate and Trust

When there are special requirements, TurboTax does not make it easy to assist in getting the right forms and etc....index is terrible as far as I could determine when it came to filing the additional forms for estate and trust that originated from my deceased mother's items
What's great about it: For regular filing - no issue
What's not so great: Could not find linkage when working on estate and trust accounts for deceased parent as the administrator and trustee.

It has become more and more difficult over the years to trace through a correction demanded by the program. I had several involving a K-1's and when I went back to the K-1 I could not find the information demanded. You cannot switch back and forth easily.
It also did not seem to forward all the information from the previous year's reurns.

Low cost, streamlined, designed for non-accountants, Turbotax delivers on all levels. You will get a greater understanding of your own financial status just by answering questions. It takes the stress out of filing. Try it, you'll understand why from the very first time.
What's great about it: Ease of use, even for a novice.
What's not so great: No cons at this time.
